The Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center is located just minutes from Downtown Port Angeles, but the park has multiple access points across the peninsula for which it is named. From the visitor center, guests can travel by car up to Hurricane Ridge itself, passing overlooks and trailheads along the way, including at the ridge top. The historic Lake Crescent Lodge is half an hour west of Port Angeles, for those wanting a rural getaway after the weekend's events have concluded. In the vicinity of the Lodge, guests will find Lake Crescent (which the Lodge is on the shores of), as well as hikes to Marymere Falls and Mount Storm King.
Port Gamble hosts a Historic District listed as a National Historic Landmark. The village is a former lumber town, extremely well-preserved, which today is home to antique shops, a General Store, and other charming opportunities. This is not a place you will spend more than half a day, but it is well worth a stop if your travel to or from Seattle allows for it. Note that most shops close early, so plan accordingly.
Port Townsend is another historic port town on the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula, home to Fort Worden and a historic district full of art galleries and other unique shops. Don't miss the Mount Baker Block Undertown, whose unassuming entrance at the corner of Water and Taylor Streets will lead you to a handful of hidden storefronts.
