The Downtown River District is a great place to explore the heart of Ft. Myers. Here you'll find eclectic boutiques, art galleries, great restaurants, and gorgeous views of the Caloosahatchee River. Some of our favorite places to grab a bite are Downtown House of Pizza, Green Cup Café, Izzy's Fish & Oyster, The Lodge, and the Twisted Vine Bistro. Enjoy! ******** Tip: this entire area is walkable from the Hotel Indigo
Fort Myers Beach is a popular destination for visitors eager to engage in watersports such as parasailing and kayaking – or just wanting to relax on the beach. Fort Myers Beach is situated on a little barrier island, about seven miles long, and the beach is fabulous – wide, gradually sloping, and thick with the area's justifiably famed sugar-sand. ********* Special bonus: Just off the coast of Fort Myers Beach and easy to reach are the islands of Sanibel and Captiva.
250 Kinds of Shells. 230 Kinds of Birds. 15 Miles of Beaches. Zero Traffic Lights. Sanibel Island and Captiva Island are connected at Blind Pass on Sanibel's northern tip, and can almost be considered as one island. The islands are made up of soft white sand, soothing gulf breezes, and natural beauty. Enjoy miles of scenic bike paths that meander along the Gulf and wind through wildlife habitat and quiet neighborhoods. Canoe or kayak unspoiled waterways, home to the endangered manatee and hundreds of varieties of birds. Splash and swim in the sun-kissed Gulf, gather shells along the beach, or simply stretch out under a cabana. These islands are paradise 🌴
The J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is located on the subtropical barrier island of Sanibel in the Gulf of Mexico. The refuge is part of the largest undeveloped mangrove ecosystem in the United States and is world famous for its spectacular migratory bird populations. The refuge is a beautiful area to ride your bike through on a sunny day.
The area's first microbrewery makes a variety of delicious brews no matter your beer style. While there, eat at a food truck, play cornhole, and pet some pups - they're animal-friendly!
