Travel Note
While the Bay Area is a region with excellent transportation options, this weekend's travel will probably best be accomplished by car. That said, our Friday and Saturday venues are notionally transit-accessible, and you could experience some of the best biking in Marin and Oakland getting to and from our Friday and Sunday events. If you plan to rent a car and drive, parking will be plentiful at all three of our events. Parking is $5/vehicle at our welcome picnic in Oakland on Friday, and free on Saturday and Sunday. Lyft and Uber are both San Francisco natives and are a great way to not have to rent a car (and to not have to drive home after the reception). Transportation details for each event are included on the Schedule page.
Travel Note
As you no doubt know, the San Francisco Bay Area is a very expensive place to live, and temporary housing costs are no exception. But do not despair! We have put together below a curated list of suggestions for you to find a place to lay your head while you're here, for a range of budget needs. It is really important to us that expenses such as lodging costs aren't a barrier to your participation in our wedding. If none of these options work for your budget, please reach out to us and we will be delighted to try and find you a place to stay with our local friends and family.
Hotel
If you want to stay in San Francisco, this is a (relatively!) affordable, clean, no-frills choice < 15 mins from Saturday's events (via the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge). Rooms range from $158-$208 (3 night minimum required to receive discount; call with above code by May 31 to make a reservation). The hotel's Cow Hollow neighborhood was in fact once cow grazing territory. It is now great human grazing territory; find great restaurants and city wandering on nearby Chesnut & Union Streets. Walk north to the Marina / Fort Mason or west to the Presidio for some of SF's more lovely outdoor spaces. The best coffee nearby is Wrecking Ball Roasters on Union St. You can reach the Coventry Inn via MUNI transit (notoriously slow, but very affordable and a really nice way to see more of the city - both on and off the bus!). The hotel is not near a BART station, but Lyft/Uber are plentiful. Finally, we recommend asking for a room in the rear (not on Lombard) as they are quieter.
Discount Code - Room block D-1699 (Levitt and Draper-Zivetz Wedding)
Hotel
Much the same description for Coventry Inn applies here, though for those who are counting, its 1/5th of a mile closer to our venue. The hotel is a half step up in elegance and price: $228-$248/night (3 night minimum; book by May 31). Both hotels will invoke a nostalgia for a San Francisco era gone by (though we have confirmed this homage to history stops short of the hotel room beds, which are new and comfortable!).
Discount Code - Room block B-2314 (Levitt and Draper-Zivetz Wedding).
Hotel
If you would prefer to be based out of Marin County for the weekend and/or plan to be in the Bay Area for less than three nights, this is a good option <15 minutes north of Mill Valley. Rooms are $179-$189/night. Please call to book your room by August 10th, 2018.
Discount Code - Draper-Zivetz and Levitt Room Block
Hotel
We don't have a room block here, but this hostel is in a beautiful location and has dorm rooms, private rooms, and family rooms. A nice option for those on tighter budget. It is about 20 mins from our venue. Note: there is limited cell reception at Marin Headlands - if you're planning to rely on Lyft/Uber to travel, this may be a bit tricky!
Hotel
If your first priority is to stay very close ( < 5 min drive) to our ceremony and reception venue, we can recommend three hotels: Mill Valley Inn, Acqua Hotel, and Holiday Inn-Mill Valley. Note that these options are costlier than the above options.
House Or Rental
Airbnb.com and VRBO.com have a number of options in and near Mill Valley, depending on your group size and needs. These can be private or shared home rentals and may be a more cost effective option. Participating in the sharing economy may also help your visit to the Bay Area feel more authentic and complete.
Travel Note
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) are equally convenient options to fly in and out of. SFO is slightly closer to our Saturday and Sunday events, while OAK is closer to Friday evening picnic. Both are well serviced by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and all other forms of ground transportation.
