Ferries
You must take a ferry boat to Vashon. They run from Tacoma & Seattle and cost around $30 per car + $6 each passenger. There is no public transit on island. Fees are only charged when heading TO the island, cost is roundtrip. NOTE: The ferry has been occasionally operating at reduced capacity due to a staffing shortage. We recommend planning to take a ferry or two ahead of the ferry you would otherwise try to take, if possible. Defiance (Tacoma) to Vashon For those catching a flight on Sunday, we suggest leaving the island earlier than necessary and if you have a few hours to kill, we suggest staying in West Seattle after getting off the ferry. Go to Lincoln Park or Alki Beach. There are many coffee shops and breweries nearby,
