Skookumchuck Narrows Hike

Join us for a hike to the nearby Skookumchuck Narrows! Skookumchuck means "Strong Water". Tidewater is forced through Skookumchuck Narrows and forms the Sechelt Rapids. The difference in water levels between one side of the rapids and the other can exceed two meters (6.5 feet) in height, and current speeds can exceed 25 km/hr (15 mph). Depending on the time of day (flood current vs ebb current), standing waves and whirlpool activity can be seen. The 8 km (5 mile) round trip hike is on a well-developed trail with minimal elevation change, and will take about one hour to walk each way. Those arriving at the Lodge on Friday or early Saturday would be able to join.

Casual Attire: Anything goes, from sundresses and sandals to jeans and tees.
Join us for burgers, drinks, and lawn games by the beach below the Lodge, followed by a campfire with s'mores. You will follow a forest trail and unpaved road down to the beach -- comfortable shoes are recommended. A ride is available if required.

September in Egmont is typically nice weather with temperatures in the low 70s°F/~20°C. Dinner will be indoors, but the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dancing will be outdoors. Please let us know if you have any special dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten free, allergies, etc.)

Princess Louisa Inlet Tour

For those who can stay an extra day and are interested, we will be organizing a private tour of Princess Louisa Inlet. Described as one of the most beautiful spots in the world, the coastal fjord has protected waters surrounded by granite walls rising sharply to 2100 meters (7000 ft), and 120 ft glacier-fed Chatterbox Falls at its head. The Lodge has 2 boats that fit 12 people each. Additional boats can be arranged if there is enough interest, as well as a float plane. Tour duration ~4 hours It will be approximately ~$250 CAD per person Float plane would cost more. At this time, if you are interested in joining please RSVP 'Will Attend', and we will communicate further once we know the number of interested guests and can better estimate the cost.
