HOW WE MET

05.15.2015

Lindsey: I love this story. All throughout high school and college my best friend, April, dated a guy named Nick (now her husband). April mentioned Nick's cousin, David, over the years and thought we would be a good match. He sounded too good to be true - "handsome, funny, nice, has a good family, likes to have fun" - so I never thought much of it...plus he lived in a different state. Fast forward to 2015 when April and Nick were about to get married - at April's bridal shower celebration, a few of Nick/David's fabulous aunts were telling me how they thought David and I would be a good match, too. I started thinking maybe I should meet this guy after all. We officially met at April and Nick's wedding rehearsal, on the steps of the chapel where they were getting married. I remember the exact moment and the butterflies when I first met him - I thought, "wow, he actually is handsome..". We ended up sitting near each other at the rehearsal dinner (along with Kelsey - my friend/David's cousin) and hit it off from there. The next day at the wedding, we had so much fun together and danced the night away! Later that night at the hotel after party, someone thought we should get "married" that night, too. So there we were, in a hotel room with lots of family/friends, getting "married" by David's cousin, Joey. We even had bright blue light up rings from the wedding favors as our "wedding rings"...it was all fun and games and ended with a few people singing to an Ed Sheeran song for our "first dance" (see photos). The next day, we went our separate ways - I stayed in NC and David flew back to CO.....despite the distance, we never skipped a beat. Eventually, I went to explore CO with David and here we are in 2020 -- time flies when you're having fun! David: What she said!

THE PROPOSAL

07.21.2019

Last summer (2019), we decided to go on a road trip adventure before relocating from Denver, CO to Asheville, NC. We went from Colorado to Wyoming, Montana, Canada, Washington, Oregon, California...all the way down to San Diego then back to CO before making the final trek to our new home. While in Canada, David had the best day planned including a beautiful proposal on a hike at Peyto Lake in Banff National Park. The best part was when he pulled out the ring box and I looked down only to find an empty box! I still said "yes", of course, but definitely panicked thinking he dropped my new ring off the cliff.....I was happy to find out that it was actually the blue light up ring from our first "wedding" that had fallen out. We eventually found it and I was so impressed that he kept a little light up ring from 4 + years ago! My real ring was being finished in Colorado while we were on our trip - uniquely made with a blue sapphire my parents found while mining for gems several years ago. What a proposal! Since then, we have been counting down the days until our wedding day - we are so very excited to celebrate with all of you in October and we love you more than words!

For all the days along the way
