What is Advent Lutheran Church?

Answer

Andy & Dorothy are members of Advent, a progressive Lutheran church on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We attend worship, volunteer regularly with the Food Pantry, and serve in the church leadership. It is a beautiful, supportive, accepting community that we cherish being a part of. Advent's mission is love, community, and transformation, aiming to be a church where all people are welcome and beloved. All people really means all - regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, immigration status ... the list never ends. If you've felt discouraged or hurt by The Church in your life, know that Advent can still be a safe space for you. We hope you'll join us to celebrate our love in this special space.

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes, please indicate any food allergies or dietary restrictions when you RSVP. Our reception venue can accommodate most standard diet needs. Please note that the reception will be served family-style, so we cannot accommodate food preferences, only specific restrictions.

Are kids welcome?

Children of family members are invited. Please refer to your invitation to confirm if your child is invited.

Can I bring a date?

Unfortunately, due to budget and space limitations, we can only accommodate guests who are specifically named on your invitation. Thank you so much for understanding!

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony, reception, and hotel locations are highly accessible via public transportation. We encourage you to review the instructions on the travel page and plan to use public transportation to get around Jersey City and NYC.
