Her Story: We met on a Saturday over the phone. I was going to meet my best friend, Marian, at a basketball court and as she tried to give me directions Devontae took the phone. Instead of telling me his name he called me his best friend and best friends we became. His Story: Her best friend asked me to give her directions to the park where my brother and I were playing basketball. When I got on the phone she asked who I was. Being goofy, I said your best friend. The rest is our history: love, laughter, ups, downs, and a happily ever after.
Her Story: The day he proposed was the same day as my birthday party. In my opinion, he was smart to do that because I am a very curious person. I planned my birthday party and unknown to me he planned my proposal. He had everyone come around me to sing happy birthday and then surprised me with our oldest son and my best friend holding a banner saying: "Da Jaunteye' will you Marry Me". I then turn around and he was on one knee. I almost lost my balance due to being in shock. Once I said yes and had the ring on, he turned me around to face everyone and my family and friends had shirts saying: "She Said Yes". I even had a shirt (they just knew I was going to say yes lol). The fact he incorporated my family and friends meant the world to me. It is a day I will never forget. His Story: Due to Covid-19, the proposal was postponed 2-3 times, if not more. Each time I felt I had the perfect idea and then Covid-19 said absolutely not. When she told me she wanted to plan her birthday party I knew it was the perfect opportunity to propose and have her do all the work. She did all the work on the front end and behind the scenes I was planned an epic moment. Banner was created, t-shirts were made, ring was in my hand, and all I needed was a "Yes"! On the day of the proposal, I was a ball of emotions from nervous, excited, anxious and more. Everything did not go as planned because time flew by. Before I knew it, it was time. When she saw the banner, I got on one knee, and waited for her to turn around. When she turned to look at me all jitters went out the window because I was thrilled to know she soon would be Mrs. Cooper.
