My name is James Hayes Cooper and I am the Best Man. I am the younger brother of Devontae who loves tacos. I spent 6 years in the Military and was even deployed. I enjoy wings, long walks on the beach and seeing my son smile. I am very funny and sarcastic; if you could not tell by now and I always put God first. Now, enough about me, back to my brother. Devontae and I have shared some great memories that include: drinking, more drinking, and spending quality time together. I am very proud of the man, father, and spouse he has become. I am happy I was able to introduce him to the love of his life. Seeing them grow over the years has been great. They are the true definition of #couplegoals. I wish the two of them all the best and I am looking forward to celebrating their union.

Hola! My name is Laura and I’m from Southwest Detroit. One of the things DJ loves most about me is that I graduated from Bowling Green State University (Go Falcons! ;), and let me tell y'all, I’m excited to serve as her Maid of Honor! DJ is not only my sorority sister, but I also call her my best friend. From the moment we met (December of 2014), she was kind, caring and supportive. From there, our bond just continued to grow. We’ve since shared plenty of late-night phone calls, Pizza House dates and mini-trips (with many more to come!). She has an infectious smile, a heart of gold and she keeps me laughing. Through DJ, I was able to meet Tae, and instantly, we became family. Tae is an incredible father to Kayden & Ayden and I look forward to celebrating their love on their wedding day.

We have been close friends for about 3 years now. My memory of them is how great they are with their kids and their partnership. You can tell in everything they do they both want the best for their kids family and their friends. P.S. I have tried to keep up with Tae drinking one night...bad idea. Never again! Lol

My name is Shawnise Simmons. I just recently relocated to Indianapolis, In about a year ago. I am one of the bride’s best friends. We have been great friends since 7th grade. I have been knowing Devontae (Tae) for about 4 years now. My brotha from anotha motha. Lol I appreciate and I am thankful for Tae asking my best friend for her hand in marriage. Additionally, I thank him for allowing me to help plan the proposal. It was an amazing experience and I was so happy that my best friend was happy. I am excited and happy for the both of them. One of my favorite memories I have with the bride is when we took a road trip to Tennessee for a week during Spring Break.

Greetings! My name is Meelan Shaffer. I am 24 years old and I’ve known Devontae (Tae) since I was about 18 years old. I met him through a mutual friend one day randomly at his then home he shared with his brother and mother. One great memory we do share out of many, is the time we attended a party. At the time, I was still breaking out of my shell and was a bit anti-social. I was not into gatherings. I asked Tae to pour me a cup of tea and the guy came back with a full glass of Hennessy without any mix. The night, from what I remember, must have gone well because I threw up and woke up next to a girl I did not know. The guy has definitely played a role in the character I am today. I am happy he has found the one for him and wish nothing but the best for their day!

I have known DJ for over 10 years and through the years we have created many, many memories and it is hard to just share one. DJ is an amazing person with the patience of Job. She has an amazing heart and is one of the greatest mothers I know. She is caring, easy to be friends with and is the best turn up partner anyone can ask for. Through DJ I have had the pleasure of getting to know her fiance’ Tae. He is the coolest big little brother ever! I can always count on him to get me intoxicated. Lol It is a joy to be a part of their union and I am thrilled to see what God has in store for them through their union!

Hi! I am Kristen Johnson and I am DJ’s best friend. I met DJ working at the Imagination Station. She knew not a lick of science but rocked out doing the demos and shows. She’s been a part of my life for about 11 years and counting. Choosing 1 single memory will be difficult as every time I spend with her is memorable. I can’t not mention all of the trips gone on, the drunk nights we had, our game nights, nights we hid in closets, and that one trip to Cedar Point that REALLY showed how close we are. I am happy my sister found someone who makes not only her happy, but my two nephews as well. A funny memory I have of my sister is the day she told me she was pregnant with her oldest son and she did not know how to tell my mom. The way I helped was by giving her 3 days to tell our mother and if she didn’t I would...good times. Lol I am excited to celebrate this day with my sister and Uncle Tae (insider).

She took me to Imagination Station, where she worked at the time, for a sister day. We had a blast going in the side-ways house and seeing how we would look when we were old, on the Aged Machine. After a fun eventful day we went back to her home and passed out! I am excited to be a part of the wedding!
