How We Met

Well…it depends who you ask. Jim was just a friend of a friend when he first met “Sloan’s blonde friend” in Dan D’Elia’s driveway 10 years ago – maybe Diane was already blinded by love, but his introduction went unregistered in her memory. It took a trip to Morristown in 2015 to ignite the spark that led us to today. That night, Diane introduced herself to the group of new faces. Most responded, “Nice to meet you!” except one who responded, “We’ve already met…” Fast forward to today, Diane is still Sloan’s blonde friend and Morristown led to matrimony. You can say Jim had Diane at, "we've already met."

The Proposal

Under the guise of hosting their own Friendsgiving, Jimbo presumed he could get Diane dressed and presentable to make a quick trip to the grocery store before the “guests arrived.” With his cousin hiding in bushes to take photos and with friends and family waiting at a local bar to celebrate, he would propose en route to the store. Of course, that didn’t all go exactly as planned. If you know anything about this engagement, you know both Diane and Jimbo had their moments of being wholly surprised. For Diane, standing in their hallway with wet hair and in sweats, it was the actual engagement and festivities to follow. For Jimbo, it was Diane declaring herself “ready!” for the store with said wet hair and sweats. If you’ve ever seen Home Alone and are familiar with the pigeon lady, there’s your visual. Staying calm, cool and collected, Jimbo decided to still move forward with going to the store but quickly pivoted to plan-b as they got to the entrance (verdict is still out whether it was in Diane’s best interest to not have engagement photos in that ensemble or to spare a fridge full of Thanksgiving food for no actual reason.) Claiming he forgot his wallet, they headed back to the apartment. Once inside, Diane decided she would slip into something more comfortable. That’s right…you guessed it… her high school UGGs. As Diane knelt down to grab her boots, she turned to notice that someone else was on one knee. After a few of her own questions like “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” and “DID YOU ASK MY PARENTS?” Jim got out a question of his own. She said “YES!” and here we are today.
