Pony Pen
Meet the famous, native ponies of Ocracoke Island! You can park and walk along the pony pen and walk out to the beach across Highway 12.
Ocracoke Lighthouse
This lighthouse, built in 1823, is free and open to public. It's not available to climb, but there are trails around it to bike and walk. You can also ride around Silver Lake and catch beautiful views of the harbor.
Ocracoke Beach
Don’t want to drive out on the beach? No worries - you can park and walk out to the beach from the Ocracoke Day Use Area. There is trail out to the beach and this location has public restrooms.
Anchorage Inn & Marina
You can rent bikes and tour the island! They also have fishing charters for half-day and full-day sessions. Don't forget to visit Smacnally's Restaurant for some of the best seafood and mimosas around! If you're staying at the Anchorage Inn mention that for discounted rental rates.
Hammock Hills Nature Trail
Don't be intimidated by the Unamed Road - no ones got around to naming it! This is a mile round trip and is a beautiful trail to walk along the unique landscape of sound-side Ocracoke!
ORV & Beach Driving
Off-Road Vehicle Permits can be purchased for the week. This will allow you to drive your vehicle out onto the beach. Maps of all the accesses can be found on the nps.gov site. Lookout for sea turtles!
Dajio
This is one of our favorite restaurants on the island! This beautiful place offers indoor and outdoor seating. They have an upscale dining room and offer unique seafood options and fun drinks! There is a cool outdoor area where you can try fun cocktails and take in the great Ocracoke weather!
Ocracoke Oyster Company
This fun, local hotspot offers some great classic seafood options! They often have live music and offer indoor and outdoor seating. This was our dinner spot after our engagement! We celebrated with a couple of hurricanes! 10/10!
Eduardo's Taco Stand
Our first visit to the island was during off-season and we couldn’t find anywhere open, except Eduardo’s! And boy was it good! At the time it was a food truck in the Variety Store parking lot. Now they have a fun location with only outdoor seating. They offer fresh fish and shrimp tacos, as well as other classic Mexican dishes. They also have great breakfast options! A must-try!
Ocracoke Coffee Company
This is your go-to stop in the morning! This place offers fantastic coffee, as well as baked goods, smoothies and bagels! Stop by for your morning fix!
SmacNally’s Waterfront Bar & Grill
SmacNally’s is one of our go-to spots! It’s all outdoor seating, but being waterfront you’d think it was conditioned! It offers beautiful views of the harbor and great seafood (and burger) options! Not to mention they offer mimosa pitchers! If you’re staying at the Anchorage this is just across the street!
