Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We want you to feel comfortable first and foremost however it's a winter wedding in a castle in Ireland so feel free to get fancy! Ladies, it's pretty common to wear full length dresses as well as shorter. As an FYI, the bridesmaid dresses are an emerald green. Gents, any type of suit jacket and tie will work.

Question

What exactly is "The Afters"

Answer

It's customary in Ireland to keep the party going the day after the wedding. Usually people gather in the evening, whenever the hang over permits! We will be providing light finger food so please be sure to eat a hearty meal at some point during the day to keep you going! We'll also some music to keep us going into the wee hours. There are no ubers in Cahirciveen, however there are a few local taxies. We'll work with them to take people to and from the pub as desired.

Question

Is there transportation from Tralee to Caherciveen for the afters?

Answer

If everyone rents a car and people are car-pooling, we won't order any transportation. However, if enough people are looking for a ride the next day we will organize a bus to pick up on the 22nd from Ballyseede and drop off to Caherciveen. We will also organize one bus departing Caherciveen back to Killarney and/or Kerry airport. As it would be impossible to coordinate everyone's schedule, we'll likely just have an early bus to accommodate everyone who needs it.

Question

What do I wear to The Afters?

Answer

Totally casual! Please dress in whatever you're comfortable in. You can be as dressed up or dressed down as you please. Ladies, I'd suggest whatever you'd wear to a night out for cocktails. It will be cold outside but I'm sure it will be pretty hot in the pub with a lot of people so keep that in mind.

Question

Is there an open bar?

Answer

Because Irish weddings go on for so long, it would be financially impossible for us to provide an open bar! We will however have signature cocktails, Champagne, Mulled Cider, & Hot Port hosted during the cocktail hour and free flowing wine during dinner. From there, there is a cash bar all night (til 4am!). Cards are accepted but we'd suggest bringing cash. There are no ATMs on site, please keep that in mind.

Question

Can my kids come?

Answer

Our wedding is adults only, thank you for understanding. There are fully qualified child minders available in the hotels listed. Please enquire with them for more information.

Question

I have a travel partner- can they join?

Answer

We are bound by capacity of the venue so only named invites can attend the ceremony and dinner. However, once the band kicks off, should you be traveling with family, friends or a P.I.C., they are welcome to join the party (after dinner) for lets face it, the fun part! We do ask that you give us a heads up if someone will be joining later in the night. They are welcome to join The Afters on the 22nd from start to finish as well.

Question

Is there transportation from other hotels to the Castle?

Answer

No, we aren't providing transportation as the drive from The BallyGarry Hotel is about 3 minutes by cab and no more than 8 -10 minutes from The Rose hotel. The hotel you're staying in will easily be able to organize a cab for you.

Question

Is the wedding in a church?

Answer

No, we're having a civil ceremony in the Castle so everything will be held on site, you won't need to leave once you arrive.
