Travel Note
At this time, Key West has a mandatory facial covering policy both indoors and outdoors. You do not have to wear a facial covering if seated at a restaurant/bar or swimming in a pool, etc. The policy is fairly strictly enforced by local police on Duval Street and downtown areas. At this time, a facial covering is required on the shuttle to the ceremony and to and from the reception. You may remove the facial covering during the ceremony and reception if comfortable in doing so. We are hoping this policy changes in the next four months but in the meantime thank you for bearing with us!
Flight
The two ways to get to Key West are either by flying directly into Key West or flying into either Miami or Ft. Lauderdale and renting a car. If you have never been to Key West, we recommend the latter. The drive from Miami to Key West is one of the most scenic in the world. It will take you on a two lane highway with the ocean on both sides through all of the Florida Keys. Flying into either Miami or Ft. Lauderdale and renting a car is also likely the more inexpensive option as flights to Miami are cheaper in June and Key West is a very small airport. If you decide to drive from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale, There are several nice places to stop along the way including Key Largo, Islamorada, and Marathon. *If driving to Key West please remember to look at whether parking is included when booking your lodging.
Travel Note
If finding your own lodging, we recommend looking for a hotel or rental near "Old Town," "Truman Annex," or "Downtown." Many of the chain hotels are located on the Northeast side of the island which is not within walking distance to many of Key West's attractions. If you do prefer to stay on this side of the island or closer to the beaches, many hotels do offer a free shuttle service downtown. If traveling with a group or another couple, we recommend looking into a vacation rental, particularly if you will be coming for the entire week. Many places have cheaper rates if you book directly through them so you will likely get a better rate contacting the hotel or rental agency directly.
