This one is complicated...Garrett & Ellie have never been able to pinpoint the exact time that they met. Technically, they met in 2008, when they were both members of Middle School Student Council at San Antonio Christian School. However, that is not where they formed their friendship. In 2016, Garrett joined his college roommate on a trip to visit Ellie in Alabama. They hit it off right away and embarked on their first trip of many together, to Nashville, TN. After this trip, Garrett and Ellie maintained their friendship over the next 3 years, until they were both living in San Antonio. When Ellie moved back, they became inseparable and began to spend every day together. Over the course of those weeks, they both began to recognize their feelings for one another. Their relationship began December 9, 2019, on the world's worst first date...
Garrett planned an amazing first date for he and Ellie, but it did not go as planned. They arrived for dinner at Rita's on the River downtown, but after their server took their drink orders, he clocked out and went home, leaving the two to enjoy margaritas without a dinner. When they were told their waiter left and the kitchen was closed, they departed the restaurant, and went for a walk on the riverwalk. They asked a woman to take a photo of them, but didn't realize how intoxicated she was until they looked at the photos - all of them were blurry beyond recognition! Though their date did not go as planned, they still had a great night together, and it set the stage for Garrett's proposal. Fast forward two years, Garrett gathered their friends and family to help plan the perfect proposal. Though Covid intervened and not everyone was able to make it, he still pulled off the surprise of the century (it is impossible to surprise Ellie) and got Ellie to the exact same spot of their blurry photoshoot for a New Year's Eve celebration. While recreating their first-date photo, he got down on one knee and asked Ellie to be his wife. With the cheers of the NYE crowd and the holiday lights surrounding them, she said yes!
We can't wait to make some amazing memories with our closest friends and family! We both love to travel and Italy is so special to both of us, so when we started planning our wedding we kept going back to the idea of hosting it there. After a lot of discussion, we made the decision to have our dream wedding in Lake Como, at the Villa Regina Teodolinda. We've created this wedding website as a hub for all of our wedding information. Find the answers to any questions you have about our big day, check out our engagement photos, and don't forget to RSVP while you're here. We can't wait to see you in Italy!
