It all started more than fifteen years ago in Miami, FL, at William H. Turner Technical Arts High School in Mr. Polynice’s Science Class, where the formulas weren’t the only chemistry happening. DeShawn and Cherae met as bright-eyed freshmen, sharing jokes, lab notes, and probably a few too many side-eye glances during class. They became instant friends… the kind that made high school days lighter and the dull days brighter. But when DeShawn transferred to another school, something clicked: this wasn’t just friendship anymore. Somewhere between the late-night texts and the “I miss you’s,” a spark started to grow. Like true high school sweethearts, their story wasn’t exactly a straight line, more like a mixtape of on-agains, off-agains, and everything-in-between-agains. From prom nights to long distance, life had its own way of testing them. Cherae headed to the University of Florida to study Finance, and DeShawn went to Florida State to study Business Administration. (Yes, rival schools… and they still argue over which school is best.) Even miles apart, one thing stayed the same: no matter where life took them, they always found their way back to each other. Because when it’s real, it’s real. Fast forward to 2022, DeShawn and Cherae packed up and headed to H-Town, chasing big dreams and even bigger goals. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and their fur baby (a.k.a their “son”), Lucky. Now, after years of growing, learning, and collecting inside jokes that could fill a book, they’re ready for their next big adventure: forever. They’re beyond grateful you’re here, reading their story, cheering them on, and getting ready to celebrate the wedding of their dreams. Because from science class to soulmates, one thing’s always been true: this love was meant to be.
