Question

โœˆ๏ธ Flying into Puerto Vallarta (PVR)

Answer

To get to Sayulita, you should fly into Puerto Vallarta (PVR). Make sure your passport is renewed if needed, and bring your COVID-19 vaccination card. After landing at PVR, while waiting in the immigration line, there will also be a QR code to scan with your phone's camera to complete a COVID-19 Health Questionnaire online. After immigration and customs, you will pass through an area where a lot of people are trying to offer you a taxi or other resort packages (you'll only need to acknowledge them if you plan to get a taxi). See next FAQ for land travel from PVR to Sayulita.

Question

๐Ÿš๐Ÿš•Transportation from PVR to Sayulita

Answer

๐Ÿš ROUND TRIP CAR SERVICE (we recommended for airport pickup/drop off): A driver will be waiting for you outside with a sign with your name. They will stop at a grocery store on the way to Sayulita for you to pick up any essentials. Cost is $130 USD for the roundtrip, seats up to 7 (so cheaper per person split by groups traveling together), comfortable SUV's with bottled water/beer. Sayulita VIP Transportation: email Antonio at sayulitaviptransportation@gmail.com, include "Rachelle & Derrick's wedding $130 USD" and include your flight information. ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข/๐™ซ๐™ž๐™ฅ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฃ๐™จ๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐Ÿš• TAXI: After customs, you can approach a booth yelling "taxi, taxi" to request a ride, you will pay first for the taxi, be given a receipt, then be taken to a driver (this is because they have to pay a tax to pickup customers at the airport). Cost is ~$60 USD one-way to Sayulita.

Question

โ›ณ๏ธ๐Ÿ›’Transportation within Sayulita

Answer

๐™‚๐™Š๐™‡๐™ ๐˜พ๐˜ผ๐™๐™๐™Ž: Highly recommended for getting around town, transporting groceries, and getting to events, especially if you plan to stay on the North End of Sayulita. An international driver's license is NOT required, but bring your US driver's license just in case. It's pretty chill. You can also rent these from Sayulita VIP Transportation (see previous FAQ for contact information), cost ~$45 USD/day. Other options are: Gaston at ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข/๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™ฃ-๐™–๐™ง๐™ค๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™™ If you're staying at a villa with a few people, consider getting 1 or 2 to share for the house. Otherwise the town is very walkable, you can lap the main town center in 10 minutes, and walking to town center from the North End takes about 10-15 minutes. There are taxis driving around if you need a ride farther away, have cash handy. We don't think Uber rides are common in Sayulita.

Question

๐Ÿฉ Where do I stay?

Answer

Also see "Travel" tab. Copy/paste this link in your browser for an extensive list of accommodations listed by location in Sayulita: https://tinyurl.com/SayulitaLodging

Question

๐Ÿ’ต How much money do I bring?

Answer

Current exchange rate: $1 USD = about $19 Mexican pesos (MXN) We recommend withdrawing some Mexican pesos at the airport (if at PVR, ATMs located after customs, before the airport exit sliding doors, expect a transaction fee), or if you use the car service we recommended, there is a Citi Bank in the grocery store shopping center that they take you to. You can also arrange for your bank to exchange some money for you before you leave for your trip. There are a few ATMs in Sayulita in restaurants or stores, but we do not recommend using ones directly on the sidewalks. There is one bank in the town, Intercam Bank. Many restaurants/stores take credit card (Visa/Mastercard), but you should have some cash for smaller vendors and tips (tipping 15-20% is polite), and some stores/vendors will give you a better price with cash payments because they won't charge tax on the price. As some reference, we paid most of our meals/shopping with card and used about $500 MXN cash per day.

Question

โ˜€๏ธ Sayulita, MX weather in November?

Answer

Sunny, hot and humid, about 80-90 degrees F, occasional sprinkles, possible thunderstorms, it will be STICKY! Basically like the Philippines๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ Don't forget your facial mineral SPF!

Question

๐Ÿ’ง Is the water safe?

Answer

We recommend only drinking BOTTLED water; however, we did not have issues with consuming ice. If you have a sensitive stomach, it is probably best to stick to cooked food. Pharmacies also sell antibiotics without a doctor's visit for traveler's diarrhea (hoping this won't be you, of course!)

Question

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ Do I need to know Spanish?

Answer

It certainly helps to know some basic phrases (and it's polite!), however, some locals speak English well enough for you to get by, especially in larger establishments. We recommend downloading Google Translator (or another app of your choice) on your phone. If you need to text or call with locals, we recommend downloading WhatsApp.

Question

๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿป Are the kids invited? Babysitting options?

Answer

We love and cherish your little ones, but unfortunately vaccines aren't available for children yet (ages 11 and under) so we kindly ask that they are left at home. *At this time, there will be an exception for the 3 children that are in the ceremony* Sayulita is otherwise a very family friendly town, and if you plan to bring your kids on vacation to Sayulita, here are some Childcare recommendations from our amazing wedding planner: www.sayulitababysitting.com www.sayulitalife.com/sayulita-childcare www.sayulitalife.com/bebe (children's rental gear)

Answer

Short answer: YES! and you must bring your vaccination card with you for the airport Long answer: - CDC recommends being FULLY vaccinated 2 weeks prior to travel - It does not matter which vaccine is received - This is to try our best to create a safe environment for ourselves, all our guests, as well as the catering staff and Sayulita locals. All activities will be held outdoors with expansive space to appropriately physically distance as needed, thorough wipe down sanitation of tables and seating, mask-wearing of catering staff, individual plating for dinner, hand sanitizer stations. For your return flight, you will be asked at PVR to show your a negative COVID test within 72 hours of your return flight.
