Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort
This is where we fell in love! No kidding! It's our favorite place and we have so many happy memories here. Come see all the beauty the area has to offer and soak in the hot springs.
Anupa Wellness & IV Hydration
On Saturday, licensed nurses/paramedics from Anupa IV in Salida will be on-site at the Steel Horse to assist any of our guests who are needing hydration, altitude or hangover support. You will need to fill out medical intake forms and pass their clearance requirements in order to receive this service. Certain contraindications exist. Additionally, if you are not staying with us on the ranch, you can visit Anupa Wellness in Salida and receive 20% off any of their IV hydration services. I recommend this for anyone feeling "yucky" from the change in altitude, weather or travel! Please email saralynnhyatt@proton.me for more information and to sign up for the on-site IV hydration service Saturday, 9/7.
Salida
We spend a lot of time here - it's our favorite Colorado town! Cute shops, great restaurants, some famous ice cream at the Pharmacy, an arcade, parks, river walk and more - you will love spending the day in Salida! Be sure to take your picture in front of "S" Mountain.
Boathouse Cantina
Definitely one of our favorite Salida restaurants! Dine overlooking the Arkansas river and watch the boaters go by! Their menu includes Baja Mexican style food along with lots of burger options. Feeling Thirsty? Choose from over 23 local draft beers or from their specialty cocktail menu that includes a Boathouse Margarita, Lucky Penny, Mojitos and Sangria.
Buena Vista
Salida's neighbor to the north. Lots to do in this cute town too - restaurants, shopping, and many outdoor activities!
Saint Elmo Mine
Don's miss the historic ghost town of St. Elmo - just a few miles west of Mount Princeton Hot Springs. We have visited here a couple times and it's pretty neat! Fun activity to do with the kids - visit the General Store, feed the chipmunks and tour the old school house.
Arkansas Valley Adventures - Whitewater River Rafting
People visit this region of Colorado specifically to partake in the Arkansas River whitewater activities! If you are up for a little adrenaline adventure, river rafting is so fun and you won't regret getting a little wet!
Captain Zipline
Be brave like us! We did this zipline course in June 2023 - what a blast!
ArkAnglers & Arkansas River Fly Shop
Clay can assure you the Arkansas River can't be beat for some of the best fly-fishing in the country! Call the fly shop in town to arrange a guided trip, or just to browse their collection of tied flies and get some tips on where the trout are biting.
Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve
This Lesser-known Colorado National Park Is Home to the Tallest Sand Dunes in North America. September has some of the best weather — not too hot, not too cold — and fewer crowds, making it a great time to visit.
Soda Wells Trailhead (Hiking)
If you want to head out on a beautiful hike near the Steel Horse, Soda Wells/Springs trailhead is just a short drive down the road. We can give you plenty of suggestions for other hikes, outdoor activities or scenic drives.
