Best option if you want the shortest ground transfer. Pisa International Airport (PSA) is the closest airport to Lucca — ~25 min drive. Cabs are available at the airport. RECOMMENDATION: Take a cab or hire the recommended car service for pick-up. By car is the fastest route. Note: there are no direct flights to Pisa from major U.S. gateways. You can expect a European stop through London, Dublin, Frankfurt, etc.

Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR) is a popular entry point for Tuscany, especially if you wish to visit Florence. Note: like Pisa, there are no direct flights from major U.S. gateways; a European stop is required. By car, the drive from Florence to Pisa OR Lucca is ~45 min. RECOMMENDATION: Take a cab or hire the recommended car service for pick-up. By car is the fastest, most direct route. If desired, you can take a ~1 hr regional train with frequent departures. Flight
Prefer a direct flight? Leonardo da Vinci / Fiumicino (FCO) offers the most nonstop flights from major U.S. gateways. Rome’s southern location also allows for a scenic drive to Lucca (~3.5 hrs). Alternatively, trains depart from Roma Termini to Pisa Centrale, with the fastest option being Trenitalia’s high-speed train (~2.5 hrs), direct from Rome.
Flight
JetBlue recently announced a seasonal, non-stop service from Boston to Milan (May 11 - October 5). A great opportunity to explore parts of northern Italy like Lake Como, Venice (for La Biennale), Dolomites, etc. Milan to Lucca is about ~3 hr drive. There are also regional trains.

Cabs can be called day-of for your needs. Hotels and restaurants can help you call a cab if needed. Calling a cab in the evening is often hit or miss due to less demand. We are arranging for guests staying INSIDE Lucca's city walls to have a shuttle taking you TO and FROM Villa Bernardini on the wedding day. This is a short, 15 minute ride through the countryside. We will confirm time of departures and location inside the city shortly.

Rental Car
Parking inside the city walls is for RESIDENTS ONLY. If you rent a car, you must park in a lot outside the walls and walk in. Hotels assist with luggage drop-off arrangements. The city center is a "Zona a Traffico Limitato" (ZTL) — traffic is restricted and unauthorized vehicles will be fined by cameras. Suggestions for parking outside of the city: - Parcheggio Carducci: A large paid lot just outside the walls - Parcheggio Mazzini: Underground parking inside the walls, accessible via Porta Elisa
