Stroll up and down Abingdon's Main Street full of eclectic shops and tasty treats. Our recommendations: take a peek into all of the kitschy cool antique shops, and definitely have an olive oil tasting at the Abingdon Olive Oil Company. When you need a break, post up on the porch at The Peppermill and grab one of their specialty martinis. (Paula's fave is the Bloody Mary Martini, Dax's is the Espresso.) NOTE: Since Abingdon is a small town, most of the shops and restaurants will all be closed on Sunday, so plan accordingly!
Delicious farm-to-table breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Paula goes here at least twice every time she's in town. They also have live music in the evenings. They'll be open on Sunday if you're craving a post-wedding brunch! 🍳
Get a little outdoorsy and explore this former railroad track turned trail. Check out the bike rental shops nearby if you want a little more adventure. "Adventure Damascus" has a bike rental & shuttle service that can drop you off at the top of the trail and let you zoom on down for the day.
About 20 minutes outside of town you can enjoy a wine tasting at Abingdon Vineyards. You can bring a picnic and dip your toes in the river and really take in the Virginia mountain air. Open Sundays. Also where we'll be gathering on Friday for anyone who wants to join!
Local legend has it that the lair of wolves which attacked Daniel Boone's dogs in 1760 lived in this cave, which you can find down Plumb Alley right behind Main Street. Worth peeking into as you're strolling around. Abingdon was originally called Wolf Hills for a reason.
