Nicole had just started business school at Cornell University in July, 2018. About one month later, the second year business school students returned to campus from their summer internships. Upon their return, Cornell hosts the Old Ezra Games (a big welcome back celebration for the business school). The Old Ezra Games consist of outdoor excursions by day and parties by night! By a mere coincidence, Nicole and Davis happened to sign up for one of the same outdoor activities, rappelling the Cornell Football Stadium. Let's just say, Davis quickly caught Nicole's eye. As it should come as no surprise to anyone, Nicole had no problem quickly starting up conversation with Davis. This conversation allowed her to probe enough to find out that he was planning to move to Chicago after graduation because he "had nothing tying him down." Well, this is just what Nicole was hoping to hear. Moments later, she was up next to rappel down the stadium. At the bottom, a gal (who came to be one of her best friends, shout out to Alia Singh) was waiting for her. The gossip about Nicole's newest crush quickly commenced. Alia's initial comment to Nicole, "he's sooo your type!" Fast forward many, many details and pivotal moments later, and we are in Martha's Vineyard for Memorial Day Weekend 2022 with some of our family and best friends to celebrate many graduates (shout out to Nanny, Brian Daniels, Caroline Hagan, Valerie Sadowl, Jackson Colley, and Nicole Beck). It was this weekend that Davis chose to up the celebrations and propose to Nicole in one of their favorite places that will now forever hold a special place in their hearts. Now, we all know many people had been in on this planning for months, two of those people were Nicole's cousins (Liz Daniels and Marykate O'Riordan). According to Davis, he instructed Liz and Marykate to keep the proposal a secret... On Friday night, when Davis arrived to Martha's Vineyard, to no one's surprise just about the entire island (aside from Nicole) was privy to the imminent proposal. Sorry Davis, but you can't say you didn't know nothing stays a secret in our family. It was moments before the graduation party started on Saturday, and Davis asked Nicole to go with him to pick up his dad to give him a ride to the party. Luckily for Davis, Nicole didn't really question this decision (shout out to one of her cousins/sister besties/maid-of-honor, Liz, who encouraged Nicole to go). Before Nicole had time to think about it, Liz quickly interjects, "Colie, just go! I need to finish getting ready, and I am getting distracted with you here! Haha" Obviously, Davis and Nicole were not on their way to pick up his dad. Instead, Davis had spent the entire day scoping out spots on the island with photographers to decide on the perfect location for the proposal. A few slick moves by Davis later, and Nicole and Davis were walking along the water's edge. Before Nicole knew it, Davis was down on one knee. Her response, "YES!" and then speechless........ and we all know, if Nicole is speechless, then there must be a VERY good reason for it. We are SO excited to bring our relationship full circle as we gather with our closest friends and family back in Ithaca, NY where it all started. Let the games begin! XOXO
