In August 2016, David and Katie made the 6 hour trip to move into the freshman dorms at the University at Buffalo. While they were exploring their separate paths in the Queen City, their new mutual friend, Alex, picked Katie up to go to downtown Buffalo's Canalside and told her they were picking up an Italian downstater next. When David got in the car, the future husband and wife began making small talk - and it only took a few minutes to find out that they attended each other's rival high schools - just 20 miles apart.  For the next several months, they remained friends - Saturday nights with the whole friend group, ski days, and completing their homework together. Long story short - talking turned into flirting, and flirting turned into "Will you be my girlfriend?" in April 2017. As college continued on, they stuck with their core friends who supported them through every up and down that comes with the college experience. Katie and David ended up securing two great jobs before graduating - Katie in Albany, NY, and David... well... in Madison, WI. Although far, they knew they could take on the long distance challenge - there were flights between Albany and Madison every day! ... And then a minor bump in the road... COVID. Due to all the travel restrictions, they were only able to see each other a few times within the one year David lived in Wisconsin. A core memory during this time was when David and Katie's roommate and Maid of Honor, Rukiye, went to great lengths to surprise Katie by flying David into Albany in April 2021 - best anniversary gift ever! Several months later in September 2021, David secured a NY job - with a catch - 1 year in Plymouth, MA! The next year involved Katie putting a few thousand miles on her car to visit David on the coast. This was the best long-distance-relationship scenario! Beach. Seafood. Drivable distance. Amazing! In September 2022, David FINALLY makes it back to NY. There was a sigh of relief for both David's and Katie's families as he moved from the salt water to the Salt City! Syracuse, NY.  As the miles on I-90 between Katie and David continued to lessen, they looked back and realized how many lessons they learned along the way that made their relationship stronger. Every FaceTime dinner date, every dog video sent on Instagram, and every Zillow listing favorited - always dreaming of their future together. They truly made it out stronger on the other side after two and a half years of a long-distance relationship, and they had their family and friends to thank for all of their support since the very beginning.  Theeennnn the fun part! Thanksgiving Eve 2022 - Katie wakes up KNOWING it's going to be the best day ever with David in NYC - a huge life change is in front of her - that's right - they're seeing Billy Joel at MSG. David INSISTS that they make the most of the day - get a BECHBSP, visit coffee shops, shop on 5th Ave, and see the sunset on the High Line in Chelsea - all of her favorite things! As the sun started to set, David got on one knee, and asked Katie to spend the rest of their lives together. And the story only begins here. As they settle in their first home together in Camillus, NY, Katie and David are beyond excited to begin their journey as husband and wife. They are extremely grateful for YOU - all the people who have supported them and will continue to support them in whatever life has in store for them next!
