Once upon a time….

Hayden left Australia and came to Canada in Fall, 2013, for a working holiday. After he finished his first contract with the Panorama Mountain Resort in BC, he decided to travel around Canada. His first stop would be Calgary. At the same time, David was also visiting Calgary for work purposes. They both found each other in the vicinity using an online dating app. They started to chat... Eventually, they made a plan to meet up at the Calgary Airport for a drink the following day, before they each would catch their flights to their next destinations. The next day, Hayden arrived at the airport well ahead of his boarding time. He was excited and looking forward to meet David in person. Moments before their scheduled meeting time, Hayden received a message from David, saying that he was running late and most likely had to go straight to the boarding gate to catch his flight. He asked Hayden if he could add him as a friend on Facebook and WhatsApp. While disappointed, Hayden agreed to become David's Facebook and WhatsApp friend.

After over a year of chats and liking each other's posts on Facebook, Hayden found himself at a crossroads as his two-year work permit was about to expire. He had to decide whether to go back to Australia or to continue to stay in Canada. After serious consideration, Hayden decided he wanted to make Canada home. He also thought about going back to school - to further advance his career. David suggested to Hayden that he should try applying to schools in Winnipeg as the tuition fees and living expenses are lower. Of course, David had an ulterior motive, as he wanted Hayden to be close to him! Hayden planned a visit and let David know he would be coming. David was very excited and said he would love to show Hayden around. On a warm, sunny day in October, 2015, David arrived, well ahead of time, at the Winnipeg Airport. David waited at the bottom of the Arrival Hall escalator for Hayden’s debut. When Hayden left the secured area and started coming down the escalator, he immediately searched for David among the crowd of people below. It didn’t take him long to spot a well-dressed, handsome man smiling at him - that was definitely David! They gave each other a warm, big hug on the “Hug Rug” and, from the airport, went on to drive around the city in David’s Audi S5 Convertible. In the following days, David showed Hayden the best of Winnipeg: The Forks, Assiniboine Park, Canadian Museum of Human Right (the first couple selfie location), etc. At home, David made delicious cocktails and a gourmet dinner for Hayden. David also took Hayden to meet his “sister from another mother” and at her home was another delicious dinner. That was the first time Hayden met Mary. Ten days passed by quickly - full of fun and laughter. By this time, David and Hayden had grown quite fond of each other. Many people move to Winnipeg either for work or love. David was one who originally moved for work. Hayden's move to Winnipeg was for love ... and the two of them have never looked back.

David and Hayden had already spent almost 5 years together and were ready to take their relationship to the next level. On Valentine’s Day, 2020, David and Hayden proposed to each other on their condo’s terrace in Puerto Vallarta. They both said Yes! As Alberta is David’s home province, and it was the mountains that first called Hayden to Canada, they both decided that Lake Louise would be the best venue for their wedding. We look forward to sharing this special time with you!
