Porto is Portugal’s second-largest city and it is famed for its atmospheric riverside district, Ribeira, colorful buildings, and the production of world-renowned Port wine. Porto was our home—seven years for Gabi, three for David— so it will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Bom Jesus do Monte is just a short drive from our wedding venue and it is a must. Its famous baroque staircase winds through beautiful gardens, leading up to a stunning sanctuary with amazing views of the city and countryside.
The Douro Valley is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world (since 1756). There you can visit historic Quintas (wine estates), learn about grape varieties and the winemaking processes and of course do some Port Wine Tastings.
Sintra is a fairy-tale town just 40 minutes from Lisbon and it is packed with palaces, gardens, and forested hills. Our 2 favourite places to visit would be Palácio da Pena or Quinta da Regaleira, which can easily be visit on a one-day trip to Sintra.
Lisbon is a vibrant mix of history, culture, and charm. From wandering the colorful streets of Alfama and riding the iconic yellow trams, to visiting Belém’s monuments and tasting the famous Pastéis de Belém, the city is full of highlights.
The Algarve is famous for its golden cliffs, dramatic rock formations, and some of the most stunning beaches in Europe. One can explore charming coastal towns like Lagos and Tavira, enjoy fresh seafood by the ocean, or take ocean excursions through the many hidden caves such as Benagil.
