Vail

Vail, CO 81657

The town of Vail is filled with great opportunities, with everything from mountain biking down the mountain to enjoying great eats and good wine. There are plenty of opportunities for kids and the whole family, such as the scenic Gondola of Forest Flyer Mountain Coaster. The opportunities abound and there is sure to be something for the whole family.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Crown jewel of the rockies, this National Park has hiking and adventure for all skill levels. Plan ahead as the park fills up far in advance.

Hiking

Vail, CO

There are dozens of jaw-dropping hikes in the vail area suitable for all skill levels. September is one of the best times to hike in Colorado, and the aspens should be turning. You can find hikes as close to Vail as the ski hill itself, or you can hike through one of the many National Forests nearby. Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk along a river, or looking to bag one of Colorado peaks over 14,000-ft, Vail is a great launching point.

Lake Dillion

Frisco, CO

This mountain lake has recreation opportunities for everyone. Go for a paddle board or kayak on the water, rent a boat, or even take a walk or ride a bike around the lake. The views are fantastic, and you won't be dissapointed.

Fly Fishing

Try your hand catching some of the Rockies' finest fish. Fly fishing is a great opportunity to enjoy mountain scenery and the great outdoors. Minturn Anglers, among other shops, will outfit you with you need, give you lessons, or act as your guide.

Leadville, Colorado

Leadville, CO 80461

This authentic mountain town is straight from the mining era and rich with history. With cute shops and great food options in town, it's a fun difference from the resort feel of Vail. In addition to its victorian style architecture in town, there are some great views of a few of Colorado's 14ers.

Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek, CO 81620

The town of Beaver Creek is an adorable mountain area with great food, shopping, and hiking. The views can't be beat, and the town is charming.

Vail Oktoberfest

For two full weekends, Bavaria comes to Vail to celebrate great beer, food, and autumn.

Mountain Biking

Vail, CO

If you're looking for a Rocky Mountain thrill, look no further than mountain biking. Whether you're bombing down the hill or looking for a gentle ride along a river, there's a trail for you. Check out the many trails in the area, or stay local and just ride down Vail Mountain itself. There are plenty of shops nearby that would love to get your geared up and recommend where to ride.
