Vail, Colorado

Note on COVID-19

We understand there have been changes in the COVID situation given that the Delta Variant is now a cause of concern. Please be aware that we will be following all venue, county, state, and federal rules and regulations, and as of mid-August 2021, we plan on continuing forward with the event. We are pleased to inform you that our guests have a 97% vaccination rate, and we encourage all guests to be vaccinated. The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place entirely outdoors. The reception (dinner and dancing) will take place inside a tent, however we will have several doors and windows to the tent open as possible to encourage air flow (weather permitting). Shuttles will have approximately 12 - 15 people on board, and we urge guests to wear a mask while using the shuttles for the safety of all of our guests. The first round of shuttles will be available to take you back to Vail around 8:15 pm should you wish to leave the venue early. If you prefer, you may also drive yourself to and from the venue, although please be be aware the drive is mountainous, and we encourage you to have a designated driver. We also encourage anyone to wear a mask in any situation they wish to. We ask that you be respectful of other's COVID-tolerances and practice social distancing when possible. If you are uncomfortable attending the wedding due to COVID, we understand and want you to make the best decision for you and your health.

Our Beginnings

Despite living literally feet away from each other at graduate school, our friendship was slow to take. However, as fate would have it, after a few semesters of groupwork together, we grew to be good friends. We graduated and both decided to stay in the Bay Area. It was while having lunch on a log overlooking a stream in the redwoods when we both realized our relationship was bound for more. After the trials and tribulations of commuting across the San Francisco Bay to be with each other, we decided to move into our first apartment together in Berkeley (aka "the Danya Dome"). We spent most of our relationship in California where we fell in love with the redwoods and kayaking on the Pacific. Realizing we wanted to be closer to family, it was time to move back to the great state of Colorado where we put down roots.

The Engagement

1/18/2020

Dave planned a "birthday" trip for me back to the California redwoods for the a long weekend. We stayed in a cute A-frame AirBnB, and on January 18th, 2020, we went for a hike in Big Basin Redwoods State Park. I had a feeling he would propose, but he was acting so casual that I really wasn't sure. We hiked the Meteor Trail, and as we got deeper into the Redwoods, he stopped to "tie his shoe." He stood up, gave me a hug, and began to recount our love story. Before I knew it, he was down on one knee, asking me to marry him. He proposed with my mom's engagement ring, and of course I said yes! We celebrated by frolicking in the redwoods and square dancing at the cutest coastal barn at Pie Ranch. The next day, we took engagement pictures in the redwoods and on the beautiful beaches of California.

Let's Celebrate!

They met at sunny Stanford University Who knew they'd be together for eternity? A hike with a log Cleared all the fog Soon they began to date with certainty. They lived in the Bay for awhile They roamed the Redwoods in style They kayaked and camped Their love was undamped Their time together was all smiles Colorado was calling their name Their life would never be the same In the woods Dave proposed And Anya did not oppose Happily - fiancés they became They'll be wed at Camp Hale Not far from village Vail In the state of Colorado They'll say "I do" with bravado And in white, Anya will be unveiled With mountains and aspens galore We just can't wait anymore To confess our love And the joys thereof Onto marriage and possibly more The venue has a beautiful view And we are excited to say "I do" In September we'll be together Regardless of mountain weather We can't wait to celebrate with you!
