Best pulled pork sandwich either of us have eaten. Seriously. Only available at lunch!
People literally come from DC to eat here. 10/10 would recommend.
Their ham, egg, and cheese croissant is *chef's kiss*
Admittedly we haven't eaten here (yet!) but lots of people have recommended it.
In honor of Darya dragging Jonathan to the town farmers market everywhere we go. Open Saturdays from 7:30am-12pm.
Why not make a weekend out of it?
DELICIOUS drive thru ice cream shop just 20 minutes from Culpeper. Be prepared to wait in line!
Did you even visit Virginia if you didn't hike Old Rag? The is the *quintessential* hike in Shenandoah National Park with great views of the valley! It's about 9 miles roundtrip with a steady climb, so not for the fainthearted. Be sure to check out the NPS website (linked below) for directions and trail conditions. The trailhead is about a 30-minute drive from Culpeper; get there early!!! If this isn't your jam, check out the NPS website or AllTrails for other hikes. Heads up that there may be a fee to enter the national park!
Sperryville is a fancy little town right outside of the national park, just 25 minutes from Culpeper. We recommend walking around Main St and swinging by Copper Fox Distillery and Wild Roots Apothecary on River Lane.
Ok ok while it may pain me (Darya) to recommend that you visit the town of my beloved alma mater's rival, Charlottesville is *actually* a lovely city with lots of history, just an hour south of Culpeper. You can check out Thomas Jefferson's plantation (tbh mixed feelings but apparently they do a decent job addressing their history of slavery) and the campus of the university we will not dignify with a name here. For eats, we recommend Bodo's Bagels, Lampo Pizzeria, and Mas for tapas.
