We were both PhD students at USC - Darryl was a handsome 3rd year Epidemiology student, and Sydney was a mysterious 1st year student in the Health Behavior Research program. Some mutual friends saw potential and encouraged us to date, but it wasn't until the big USC-UCLA football game that sparks started to fly. Soon, we were spending every spare minute together, studying at cafes, taking weekend adventures, and seeking out vegan delights all over Los Angeles.

After four years together, on a Saturday morning, Darryl handed Sydney an envelope and instructed her not to open it until he was gone. It was a scavenger hunt! That day Sydney solved one riddle after the next, traveling all around Southern California to places near and dear. This trip down memory lane started with an ocean-side yoga session and vegan brunch in Long Beach, passed through DTLA with flowers and self-care, made a pit stop at the USC Soto Street Building, and fueled up with shot of espresso in Los Feliz before the grand finale at Barnsdall Art Park in Hollywood. Darryl was waiting with ring in hand!
