Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Daniel O’Donnell and John Permann
We love Kaua'i! There is so much to explore on the island. Below are some of our favorite places to visit, experiences and tours we have enjoyed, and restaurants that don't disappoint!

Anini Beach

3727 Anini Road, Kilauea, HI 96754

A beautiful beach to swim and snorkel at on the North Shore - you almost always see a turtle while snorkeling!

Beach House Restaurant - Kauai

5022 Lawai Road, Koloa, HI 96756

A great place for a delicious meal with a beautiful view of the sunset

Blue Dolphin Charters

4353 Waialo Road, Eleele, HI 96705

If you are open to adventure, a sailing tour of the Napali Coast is an unforgettable experience! The waves can be rough so keep that in mind if you get seasick. Danie and John have both toured with Blue Dolphin before and had a great time. There are many other touring companies - we are only vouching for what we've used before. You won't regret this!

Brennecke's Beach

Poipu, HI 96756

We swam with turtles here! Sweet little beach with great body surfing

Hanalei

Hanalei, HI

The adorable small town of Hanalei is home to good food, cute shopping, and the beautiful Bay.

Hanalei Bay

Hanalei, HI

Danie and her mom's favorite beach! Located on the north side of the island, Hanalei Bay is a large, soft-sanded beach. Some spots (often closer to the Hanalei Bay Pier) have flat, gentle waves great for families or gentle swimming. Others have seasonal larger waves great for body surfing or playing in the surf.

Hanapepe Town

Hanapepe, HI

Sweet little town with a cute downtown that was the inspiration for Lilo and Stitch

The Hanalei Dolphin Restaurant

5-5016 Kuhio Highway, Hanalei, HI 96714

A divine dinner spot in Hanalei (also for a fun day-time poke bowl take out, sneak around the back to the fish market!)

JoJo's Shave Ice

9734 Kaumualii Highway, Waimea, HI 96796

A must for a first time visit to Kaua'i - there are few locations around the island but the one in Waimea is by far the cutest. Make sure to get the haupia on top!

Kalypso Island Bar & Grill

Kuhio Highway, Hanalei, HI 96714

Great happy hour in Hanalei - good food, good drinks, good vibes, and good fish tacos!

Kapaʻa

Kapaʻa, HI

Kapa'a is home to a cute downtown, that you will surely drive through going north or south on the island, and beautiful hiking. The town is lined by beaches that have rough waves and incredible views of sunrises!

Kayak Kauai

3 Kuhio Highway, Kapaʻa, HI 96746

Great guided kayak + hike to a waterfall tour Danie did this her first trip to Kaua'i with Lisa Grace

Ke‘e Beach

Hāʻena, HI

Kē‘ē Beach is located at the base of the Kalalau Trail inside the Hāʻena State Park. Both the beach and the hike are incredible! Permits are needed for access and can be purchased via the link. Permit dates open for purchase 30 days prior at 12am HST (example: 8/30 opens July 31, 8/31 opens Aug 1)

Lava Lava Beach Club

420 Papaloa Road, Kapaʻa, HI 96746

This is always our first stop for a Chi Chi and a Mai Tai! Close to grocery shopping and has a great happy hour

Lihue

Lihue, HI 96766

The island’s only “city” with the major stores like Costco and many hotel and rental options

Nourish Hanalei

5225 Hanalei Plantation Road, Princeville, HI 96722

Delicious açaí bowl + beautiful view of Hanalei

Poipu Beach

Poipu, HI 96756

Beautiful beach where you can swim, snorkel, and often see turtles on the sand!

The Plantation House by Gaylords

3-2087 Kaumualii Highway, Lihue, HI 96766

We will be here for the wedding! The property is so beautiful, the restaurant is delicious, and they are home to a number of local businesses and tours.

Puka Dog Hawaiian Style Hot Dogs

2100 Hoone Road, Poipu, HI 96756

Fun beach snack/quick lunch across from Poipu Beach and Brennecke’s Beach (Delish veggie dogs too!)

Waimea Canyon State Park

Waimea, HI

Waimea Canyon houses some of the most incredible views and hiking on the island. Often called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, Waimea Canyon offers views of the Napali Coast and the red dirt 3,000 ft deep canyon. You can drive up (it's windy!) and hike around, stop of lookout points, and on a clear day see "Forbidden" island of Ni'ihau.
