Ashlee and her family went to Treasure Island to celebrate her younger sister Natasha's birthday. Same day, Daniel's brother Randy and his sister-in-law Sarah were getting married in the Welch area. That night, Treasure Island had a live 80's Rock cover band playing some AWESOME tunes in the Parlay Lounge where Ashlee and her family were dancing and celebrating. An hour later, the bridal party of Randy and Sarah's Wedding showed up for the Reception After-Party at the Parlay Lounge. Dan saw Ashlee and danced his way right up to her, where they joked back and forth, danced the night away together, and exchanged phone numbers. They went on their first date a week later, where they danced the night away again at the Oktoberfest event at Fulton Brewing (pictured above). They have been inseparable and dancing together ever since!
Dan and Ashlee are outdoor enthusiasts and truly enjoy any and every activity under the sun. Biking, running, hiking, canoeing, camping, fishing...you name it, they love it! Dan planned a weekend in northern Wisconsin full of their favorite activities. He wasn't sure exactly how he wanted to ask the question, but knew it would happen over this planned trip. Ashlee and Dan were having a wonderful time setting up their campsite, starting a fire, listening to music, being silly, cooking a delicious taco lunch, and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. With the sun getting hot, Ashlee decided to move their chairs into a shaded area by their trailer for when they ate, without knowing Dan hid the ring in the trailer! She put their chairs right next to the spot Dan hid the ring! They sat down to start eating lunch, and before every meal together Dan and Ashlee always say a prayer. During this particular prayer, Dan focused on how grateful he is for all the little things in their relationship that make it so wonderful, and how much he appreciates having a partner that is also his best friend. During the prayer, Dan felt God tell him the time was now! So, Dan (trying to be a little sneaky) claimed he needed a knife for his food, which Ashlee replied, "What do you need a knife for, we're eating tacos!" Dan started grabbing for the ring box he hid, to which Ashlee replied, "that's a funny looking knife box Dan". Ashlee began to realize what was happening and Dan said, "I want to do this every day with you for the rest of my life". Dan proposed, and Ashlee said YES. A million times yes. They spent the day laughing, crying, and cherishing the day together. They then got to celebrate with the locals and owners at the Bucktail Lodge! Fun Fact: Ashlee and Dan have the same birthday (March 20th). The center of the engagement ring is their birthstone, an Aquamarine Gem! <3
