Things To Do

Shore Coffee Roasters

1 Ocean Boulevard, Southern Shores, NC 27949

If you feel like taking a little drive north, this spot is worth it. Bright, peaceful, and the perfect place to recharge with a latte in hand. (One of Alicia’s FAV spots)

Orange Blossom Bakery & Cafe

47206 North Carolina Highway 12, Buxton, NC 27920

A bit of a drive, but their famous “Apple Ugly” is legendary—and if you make the trip, it’s worth every bite. This is a place we always stop when we take a little getaways to Ocracoke. The kids love it too! It’s kind of a whole experience/tradition. The thing is – they’re only open from 6 AM to 11 AM!

The Kill Devil Grill

2008 South Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948

Kill Devil Grill + Swells’a Brewery (Kill Devil Hills) This is one of our favorite combos. We love grabbing a spot at the bar at Kill Devil Grill—their wings are a go-to for us—and then walking next door to Swells’a Brewery for a laid-back drink. Swells’a has indoor-outdoor space and a chill, local vibe. Plus, it’s all just a short stroll home for us afterward.

Swells'a Brewing Beer Company

1802 South Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948

Just a few minutes from our wedding house! Great beer, live music, and a local favorite with indoor/outdoor space.

TRIO Restaurant & Market

3708 North Croatan Highway, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949

This one’s extra special—it’s actually where we had our first date! Trio has a great menu (we’re obsessed with the French dip), an awesome wine and beer selection, and a cozy, elevated atmosphere. Great for brunch, dinner, or a light bite.

Josephine's Sicilian Kitchen

3701 North Croatan Highway, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949

Authentic Italian, off the beaten path, and totally delicious. Huge portions, affordable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you might not stumble on if you’re just visiting, but we’re so glad we did.

Jockey's Ridge State Park

300 West Carolista Drive, Nags Head, NC 27959

Carova Beach

NC

For a true Outer Banks adventure, head up to Carova Beach, where the paved road ends and the sand begins. This unique stretch of beach is only accessible by four-wheel-drive vehicles (no AWD), and it’s one of the few places in the country where you can still see wild Spanish mustangs roaming freely along the dunes and shoreline. It’s peaceful, surreal, and unforgettable. If you don’t have a 4WD vehicle, there are local guided tours that can take you there safely!
