Things To Do

Chicago is an amazing city with something for everyone. See below for some of our favorite places, restaurants, and things to do. Just keep in mind that flopping is also an option! A good flop never hurt anybody. (This message of sage-wisdom brought to you by Trish).
Kimpton Hotel Allegro's Social Hour (5-6 pm)

Kimpton Hotel Allegro's Social Hour (5-6 pm)

171 West Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60601
, (312) 236-0123

If you're staying at Hotel Allegro, take advantage of a complimentary drink at their daily Social Hour from 5 to 6 pm.

Shedd Aquarium

Shedd Aquarium

1200 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605
, (312) 939-2438

The Shedd will always hold a special place in our hearts since it's where we got engaged. Spend a day or afternoon strolling through the exhibits or treat yourself to an Extraordinary Encounter with a penguin, sea otter, or beluga!

Lincoln Park Zoo

Lincoln Park Zoo

2001 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60614
, (312) 742-2000

Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo is free and open 365 days a year (except during polar vortexes when even the polar bears have to go inside).

The Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute of Chicago

111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
, (312) 443-3600

One of the best art museums in the world is just steps away from the hotel. Dani's favorite gallery is the impressionism painters and Trish's are the Thorne Room miniatures.

Geja's Cafe

Geja's Cafe

340 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614
, (773) 281-9101

This is the most romantic restaurant in Chicago. The fondu is warm and comforting and the lighting is intimate. They also set the chocolate fondu on fire. The menu is pricy but there are almost always Groupon deals available so be sure to check!

London House Rooftop Bar

London House Rooftop Bar

North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60601
, (312) 357-1200

Head to London House's rooftop bar for cocktails and a great view of the city (including our apartment building across the river!). Ask your server for directions to the rooftop. Afterward, you'll be steps away from Chicago's Riverwalk or a few blocks from great restaurants in River North.

Cindy's

Cindy's

12 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
, (312) 792-3502

This place is across the street from the Art Institute. It has great cocktails and an amazing view of Millenium Park, where you can see Chicago's iconic Bean sculpture (Trish hates it, Dani embraces it).

The Catcade - Cat Cafe & Rescue

The Catcade - Cat Cafe & Rescue

1235 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657

Spend an hour playing arcade games while adoptable cats of all ages roam around, use you as a bed, and entice you away from the games to play with them instead! They do fill up so reserve a spot ahead of time if you're interested in going!

For all the days along the way
