Amy invited me to a church support group, and one of the first people I remember meeting was Dan. I thought, "I think I'm gonna like this group!" I was impressed by Dan's thoughtfulness, transparency, tender heart and intelligence and found myself wishing Wednesday would hurry up and arrive! Our group shared activities - the symphony, rafting, hiking, and camping, where Dan's humor was a mainstay. He made fun of all the foods I knew how to eat in the wild. We enjoyed vigorous mountain biking, froze more than our fingers on 2 rainy spring rides up Logan pass, and share a love of lake cliff jumping. As our leaders retired, Dan asked that we move group to my home, and we started "Quest." Meeting weekly, we enjoyed dinner, deep study, bonds of faith and personal growth. We became tightly knit and remain like family. A personality type study showed that I am a "Campaigner" and Dan is an "Adventurer." A memorable Mount Reynolds hike inspired me to call Dan, "Restless Feet," for his eager adventuresomeness and characteristic unpredictability anywhere outdoors. A group invitation to swing dancing, where only Dan and I showed up, yielded more dancing and frequent late night texts and calls. When "Do you want to talk" lit up my screen, I knew I was in for a favorite part of my day. After a 1 1/2 year friendship, Dan asked if he could "stop by" and bring me a coffee. I call it "Montana Coffee Trader's, Buy A Latte, Get A Girlfriend Special," because he shared his feelings about the trust that had developed between us and his interest in dating me. Two weeks later, (2 3/4 years ago), we went on our first date! Wanderlust and a shared love of history led us to Rome. Immersing ourselves in ancient Roman History, early Christian and art history, I love it when Dan "talks history to me!" Many inner & outer adventures, meaningful mission and service work and 6 beautiful children between us, Dan asked me to marry him on Flathead lake on his best buddy's birthday! I said YES!
