World famous for schooners (very big servings) of beer. Burgers & fries too. Can get very crowded (and fun!) in the afternoons.
Awesome deck and outdoor scene. Monkey fries are delicious. Larger and more varied menu than Grumpy's.
Genuine Wild West experience. Great cocktails. Steak & potatoes.
Birdie's opened earlier this summer, and quickly became one of our favorite places. Excellent drinks and snacks - and lots of lawn games to play.
Located in the Sun Valley Village. Our often-consumed staples are the fried ravioli and the pepperoni deluxe pizza. A menu with variety to satisfy a wide range of appetites.
The favorite Asian food in the Wood River Valley! Pro tip: Put your name in (they don't take reservations) and then wander down the street for a drink and be patient - it is worth the wait. Every single thing we've ever eaten from there is delicious.
Both sushi & thai food! Our go-to place for chicken pad thai & crab rangoons.
Meghan would eat the Fresh Bowl every single day if she could. Everything here - breakfast, lunch, coffee, pastries - is delicious!
Our go-to diner in the Valley. The milkshakes are delicious!
The favorite for coffee in Hailey. Breakfast items are also delicious. Often a very long line, but usually moves quickly.
Formerly known as Jersey Girl, the favorite sandwich shop in Hailey. Meghan loves the Caprese sandwich (and the balsamic glaze) and the chocolate chip cookies that come for free with every order!
A fun bar, with surprisingly good food.
Map to the Hemingway Memorial. Park on either the north or south side of Trail Creek Road. Cross the water at the Hemingway Memorial, walk down the hill toward the golf course, and turn left. We recommend doing the loop counter-clockwise. 4.25 miles in total, 1100+ feet of elevation gain. Amazing views of Baldy!
A well-loved hike in Ketchum. Park in Sun Valley's River Run parking lot, walk across the bridge, and turn right before the chairlift. Follow the mountain access road to the Bald Mountain Trail. Single-track trail, mostly shaded, 3.5 miles total (1.75 up and 1.75 down), ~1000 feet of elevation gain. A beautiful lookout offering panoramic views of Ketchum and Sun Valley.
Starts the same as the Lookout Hike above. Park in Sun Valley's River Run parking lot, walk across the bridge, and turn right before the chairlift. Follow the mountain access road to the Bald Mountain Trail. You will take the Bald Mountain Trail up past the lookout, and eventually to the Roundhouse Connector Trail. A total of 4 miles up and ~2,000 feet of elevation gain. You will end at the top of the Roundhouse Gondola, which is free to ride down - and dogs are welcome! Please visit the Sun Valley website or app for more details on riding the gondola down. (It usually opens at 9am, dependent on weather conditions).
More of a walk than the previously mentioned hikes. Park at Lion's Park and walk south through the Hailey Greenway (owned and managed by Meghan's former employer - the Wood River Land Trust!). The Bow Bridge is a great photo opportunity, and the Boardwalk is a great place to bird watch. Lots of options for different distance walks here - check out www.woodriverlandtrust.org for more information
A hot springs located 11 miles from Ketchum on Warm Springs Road. The final 7 miles of drive is on a dirt road (well-maintained). Three wide, shallow pools, but might not be accessible due to high water levels.
Our favorite local golf course.
