Question

Where is Camp Clark?

Answer

Camp Clark is two hours from Portland on the Oregon Coast, 20 minutes from Pacific City (south) and Tillamook (north), and a few miles from Cape Lookout. You can visit their information site here: https://shorturl.at/0G1vk

Question

Can I bring a camper or camping trailer?

Answer

Parking is quite limited on site for large vehicles, and if you want to bring a larger camper or trailer, we'd recommend checking out Cape Lookout State Park for full hookups and accommodations.

Question

Where is the nearest airport?

Answer

If you're traveling by air from out of state, please plan to fly in to PDX Airport. Car rental is available directly from the airport. If you would like to carpool with other guests, we'd encourage you to let us know! We will be helping to match guests with carpools via the RSVP forms. Driving from Portland, the easiest route is to take OR-6 to Tillamook, then US-101 to Sandlake Rd. Camp Clark is easy to find via GPS!

Question

What kind of weather should I expect?

Answer

Weather on the Oregon coast can fluxuate wildly, so we recommend preparing for a range of weather possibilities. Temperatures average highs in the mid 60s and lows in the 50s, but we'll be keeping an eye on the forecast ahead of the event to make sure we're prepared, and we recommend you do the same! Warm layers for evenings and chilly mornings, raincoats (and rainboots for kids!), and hats are strongly recommended.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

For the ceremony and reception, we'd love to see our friends and family dressed up for the occasion in their finest Harvest Chic attire - whatever "dressed up" looks like for you! Maybe your family has a tradition of wearing a certain color to weddings for luck, or maybe you just can't attend a wedding without your lucky tie. It's the equinox, so feel free to be creative and full-hearted with your fashion choices. What matters most to us is that you are comfortable and feel fabulous in whatever you choose to wear. Regardless of your fashion choices, we do recommend dressing for the weather and bringing some layers just in case.

Question

What should we plan to bring?

Answer

Clothes for the weekend: this includes pajamas, appropriate clothing for hiking or walking on the beach, and your wedding attire. We'll be outside all weekend, so plan on getting sandy, dirty, and possibly a little wet and rainy. A Potluck Dish: While there will be an entire roast pig for the wedding feast, we're also inviting our friends and family to share the foods that mean the most to them to accompany the main course. If you have not yet done so, please fill out our Potluck dish sign-up form. Camping supplies: A sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and flashlights will be needed in the mini-Daks, along with any other comfort items you'd like to bring. Camp chairs are recommended. Snacks to enjoy at your campsite or share: We'll be providing dinner on Friday, brunch on Saturday, and a DIY breakfast burrito station on Sunday morning. Please bring anything you or your party (especially any children) would like to eat between meals. There is a kitchen on site, but it's best to bring snacks that don't require preparation or cooking.

Question

A Potluck?!

Answer

Yes! Our network of supportive friends and family is very important to us, and in the spirit of community and care, we immediately loved the idea of a potluck wedding. If you've indicated that you are able to contribute to the potluck, you can sign up and indicate what you're bringing here: If you're unable to contribute to the potluck, that's perfectly fine! We understand everyone's ability to participate may be different. Please consider visiting our registry page instead to support our ongoing quest to improve our home.

Question

Can I prepare my potluck dish on site?

Answer

Maybe! The reception hall is equipped with a full commercial kitchen, but this will be a busy space and kitchen time must be requested via the RSVP form. If you have already RSVP'd and did not indicate that you need kitchen time, please get in touch as soon as possible to make arrangements.

Question

What is parking like on site?

Answer

Parking is limited, so if you are able to carpool we strongly recommend doing so! There are two parking lots on site: a lower grass lot situated next to the dining hall/lodge, and an upper gravel lot that is 50 yards further up the hill. There is also one ADA-accessible parking spot next to the lodge. Due to limited availability in the lower lot, if you are able-bodied and do not mind a bit of a walk, we would greatly appreciate if you can drop off your camping gear at the designated area and park in the upper gravel lot. Likewise, if you plan to camp in your vehicle, we'd request that you park in the upper lot.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! Camp Clark is a Boy Scout camp and this is absolutely a kid-friendly event. Please include your children on your RSVP form and campsite requests so we accommodate everyone :) For safety reasons, we would ask that you please ensure that children visiting the beach or exploring the woods have a responsible guardian present.

Question

Can we swim at the beach?

Answer

The beaches at Camp Clark are choppy and cold, and not ideal for swimming. Having said that, bold souls willing to join in a traditional Swedish kallbad (cold bath) plunge on Saturday morning are encouraged to do so, just keep in mind that this is a ritualistic experience, so we're asking folks not bring their kids to the kallbad. We recommend planning on a hot shower immediately after :)

Question

What are some Camp Rules to keep in mind?

Answer

Smoking of any kind, vaping, and tobacco products are not permitted at Camp Clark. Please leave your pets at home. Lastly, please be respectful and discreet while consuming alcohol outside of the reception and group meals.

Question

Will I be able to shower on site?

Answer

Yes! Camp Clark has a shower house which contains 8 individual shower rooms with mirrors and power outlets. You will be sharing these facilities with a lot of other people, so please plan accordingly when you're getting ready on Saturday!

Question

Is the name of the camp just a coincidence?

Answer

It is, but it is a happy coincidence nonetheless!
