🌊 Avila Beach
Cute beach 10 minutes from downtown SLO for strolling and hanging out by the water :)
☀️ Pirate's Cove
Seaside cliffs, ocean views, cool caves to explore, you can also walk down to a small beach. Plenty of parking. Fabulous sunset spot. Be sure to avoid leaving valuables in your car. ⛰️ Ontario Ridge to Shell Beach Bluff Trail Loop hike
2.8 mile loop with ocean views and a tree swing! :) Our favorite trail from Pirate's Cove parking area (first section up to the ridge is very steep but worth the climb!). See alternative trails in Pirate's Cove above.
⛰️ Bishop Peak
One of the most famous hikes in SLO with views of rolling hills and the city! There are 4 different trail options to access this beauty
🌊 Morro Bay
A 15-minute drive from SLO, Morro Bay is a perfect spot to walk on the beach, catch some waves, enjoy stunning views of the iconic Morro Rock, or grab fresh seafood by the water.
Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa
A beautifully preserved Spanish mission right in the heart of downtown.

Gorgeous, light-filled spot with some of the best coffee and pastries in town.

Another popular, locally-owned coffee shop in the heart of downtown. They also offer natural wines and and house-made pastries.
High Street Deli
there is another location in SLO but sources say the Los Osos location has more food options, great views, and is less busy! SLO location: 350 High St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
Higuera Street Boutiques
Wander around the Higuera Street neighborhood and pop into unique shops like: Hands Gallery (a collective showcasing handcrafted ceramics, textiles, and jewelry by local artists) Calico Trading Co. (thrift shop) Phoenix Books (a cozy used bookstore) Ah Louis Store (historic building: the first Chinese store in the county, vintage-inspired home goods and novelties) and many more!

Our fave, Margot Friend is close friends and colleagues with the Firestones! Check out their taproom for craft beer, gastropub menu, outdoor seating, and variety of signature brews like the popular 805 Blonde Ale and Mind Haze IPA. 🍷 Edna Valley Wineries (closest to downtown SLO ~15 min drive)
If you want a quick, beautiful wine country experience without a long drive: Baileyana Winery Stunning views of vineyards and rolling hills, casual tasting patio, and a wide variety of wines (especially Chardonnay and Pinot Noir). Vibe: Relaxed, stylish, perfect for first-time tasters. Chamisal Vineyards One of the first wineries in Edna Valley, known for its sustainability and full-flavored Pinots and Chardonnays. Vibe: Sleek and modern but still cozy. Great outdoor seating. Biddle Ranch Vineyard A boutique winery with a dreamy white farmhouse tasting room, often a favorite for photo ops. Vibe: Instagrammable, stylish, and laid-back.
🍇 Paso Robles Wine Country (for more serious wine lovers ~40 min drive)
For wine enthusiasts who don’t mind traveling a bit farther from town: DAOU Vineyards Perched atop a mountain with epic views, this is a luxurious experience with bold reds and unforgettable ambiance. Vibe: Elegant and dramatic. JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery Known for Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blends, great for red wine lovers. Vibe: Refined yet approachable. Tin City (Paso Robles) An industrial-chic hub of small-batch wineries, cideries, and breweries. Great for guests who like to explore and try multiple things. Vibe: Trendy and fun, great for groups.
