DLH or MSP

Duluth International (DLH) is the closest airport, just under 2 hours from Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. Duluth offers direct flights to and from Minneapolis, Chicago, and Fort Myers (if you randomly happen to be there!). Minneapolis is the closest major airport and easiest place to fly direct. It has all major rental car carriers available on-site, and is a four hour drive from Bayfield.

Madeline Island Ferry

Madeline Island Ferry Line provides transportation from the mainland to the island between the picturesque towns of Bayfield and La Pointe. The 25-minute voyage provides spectacular views of Lake Superior and several of the 22 Apostle Islands. The ferry runs from Bayfield 7:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. Sunday through Wednesday, and 7:00 A.M. - 10:30 P.M. Thursday, Friday and Saturday (with an 11:30 P.M. ferry on Friday night ONLY). The ferry runs every 30 minutes between 10AM and 6PM, and hourly before and after those times. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and range from $21 round trip for adult passengers and from $38 round trip for a vehicle. Our room block at the Inn is currently full! Unless there are cancellations, would recommend looking at other options noted below. If you do want to double check on availability here, bookings must be done over the phone by calling (534) 210-6400 and mentioning the Pogacar-Kanninen wedding group. Located a short walk from the ferry landing and bars and restaurants in La Pointe, the Inn has a variety of rental homes and cottages, condominiums, hotel suites and guest rooms in addition to a beachfront pool, hot tub and sauna, tennis courts, and gift shop.
