Yes! Please head over to the Schedule page of this web-site for a full list of optional activities and then the RSVP page to confirm what you plan to attend. RSVPs are required for all events by June 9th.
The closest major airport is in Dan's hometown of Duluth, which is two hours South of Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. If you enjoy a road trip (and you know we do!) you can also fly direct to Minneapolis - St. Paul and drive the four hours into the Northland. Either way, you'll want to rent a car for the trip to Bayfield, WI where you can drive right onto the Madeline Island Ferry, which will deliver you to La Pointe on Madeline Island.
On Madeline Island!! We HIGHLY recommend booking accommodations on the island so you can enjoy the scenic beauty and serenity without worrying about catching the last ferry back to the mainland or sleeping on the dock if you miss it :( You can find recommended accommodations on the Travel page of this web-site.
Madeline Island is a small island with all the modern conveniences you need for a great vacation, but there are some limited amenities like ATMs and grocery options. Especially if you are renting a house, we suggest stopping at Andy's IGA Supermarket in Bayfield to do your shopping before boarding the ferry.
Yesterday! In all seriousness, we advise booking as soon as possible given the limited lodging available on the island. In addition to The Inn on Madeline Island there are a few small B&Bs noted on the Travel page of this website, and Airbnb & VRBO both have great options. Given this is high season expect multi-night minimums when booking.
The Madeline Island Ferry runs from Bayfield 7:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. Sunday through Wednesday, and 7:00 A.M. - 10:30 P.M. Thursday, Friday and Saturday (with an 11:30 P.M. ferry on Friday night ONLY). The ferry runs every 30 minutes between 10AM and 6PM, and hourly before and after those times. During high season, you can expect a wait to board the ferry, so plan to arrive early! Tickets can be purchased at the box office in Bayfield where you'll wait to board the boat. If you're taking your car you can drive right on and enjoy the ~20 minute ride from the comfort of your vehicle while listening to your own music! You can find a link to the Ferry website with additional details on the Travel page of this web-site.
