Just steps from downtown Nevada City, this scenic trail provides a peaceful escape along Deer Creek, offering forest views and fresh air. You can hop on near the Miner’s Foundry (our wedding venue) and follow the path through quiet neighborhoods and woodsy stretches. Perfect for a morning walk or a little post-wedding adventure.
Take some time to wander the shops in historic downtown Nevada City which have a variety of stores including boutiques, home goods, and thrift shops. Some of our favorites include Garnish for gourmet food and kitchen goods, J.J. Jackson’s for unique home goods, and Solstice for funky thrift finds. New spots pop up all the time, so it’s always fun to discover something unexpected!
If you’re looking to get outside and enjoy a little local history, Empire Mine in nearby Grass Valley is a great spot to explore. It’s one of the oldest gold mines in California, with beautiful grounds, historic buildings, and a cool model of the underground tunnels. There are also easy walking trails if you just want to stretch your legs and take in the scenery. Guided tours will be available on November 8 and 9 and are included with the $5 admission. Check out their website for more details.
If you're in town on Friday night and looking for a great dinner, The Willo is a roadside steakhouse just outside of Nevada City. They grill up their famous New York Strip in addition to other traditional steakhouse favorites. Reservations are encouraged.
