Question

When should I arrive in Perugia?

Answer

We recommend that you arrive by Wednesday, September 18, to enjoy the festivities to the fullest. Perugia is a charming town full of things to see, do, and enjoy, from live music and cafes to art galleries and options for day trips to surrounding towns. There will be a welcome aperitivo for all out-of-town guests late in the afternoon on Thursday, September 19. The wedding party and families will then have a rehearsal dinner that evening. We hope you'll consider coming a few days early to enjoy everything that this Umbrian town has to offer and to be able to join us at the welcome aperitivo!

Question

What kind of documents do I need to travel?

Answer

If you are not a European citizen, you will need a passport that is valid at least 6 months beyond your date of return to the U.S. If you know your passport will expire before 6 months after your return, you should renew it soon! Citizens of certain countries (not the U.S.) are required to apply for a Schengen visa to be allowed to enter Italy even for tourist purposes. You may also wish to consider purchasing trip insurance, which will be useful in case of an emergency cancellation of travel or medical visits while abroad. We recommend AIG Travel Insurance. And of course, bring your license/ID.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes! Please see our Travel page for a list of hotels where we have blocked rooms and discounts available. Mention the "Fuller and Cuppone Wedding" to receive the group rate. Reserve early, as discounted rooms are limited.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

Of course! Transportation will be provided from Piazza Italia to the ceremony, from the ceremony to the reception, and from the reception back to the hotels!

Question

Can I rent a car / Is there parking?

Answer

If you intend to rent a car, you will need to obtain an International Driving Permit before leaving the U.S. Tourists may also use their valid American driver’s license if accompanied by an official translation in Italian. More information is available at: https://it.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/transportation-driving/ If you're thinking of renting a car in Perugia, we highly recommend that you reconsider. Besides that you'll need to get an international license, parking in the area is truly a nightmare. Instead, we recommend that you take advantage of the transportation that we'll provide for the event, and that you experience Italian train travel for your other travel needs. If we haven't convinced you, the car rental company that seems to get the best reviews is Maggiore (https://www.maggiore.it/agenzie/noleggio-auto-perugia-stazione-ferroviaria-fontivegge/). It is within walking distance from the train station. Again, please reconsider!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

For the welcome drink on Thursday, feel free to dress business casual or cocktail attire. For the wedding, our suggestion is black-tie-optional. But remember, there are cobblestone streets and we hope you'll join us on the dance floor so make sure to have comfortable shoes!

Question

I'm still confused about what to wear.

Answer

If you are wondering what "black tie optional" really means, the Knot has a great guide for clarification: https://www.theknot.com/content/wedding-guest-attire-cheat-sheet

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

We prefer to spend the day with our closest friends. If your invitation does not say "and guest," we prefer to spend our time with just you!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. But we prefer our wedding to be your chance to relax. We are organizing an adult-only event, and babysitters will not be provided at the location.

Question

Why can I not choose my food when I RSVP?

Answer

Weddings in Italy are different in many ways from American weddings (and even Italian-American weddings!), but the main difference is the food. In the U.S., you must pre-select your dish. In Italy, you get to eat everything! There will be an appetizer buffet with cocktails which is enough for a full meal, but it's just the beginning so make sure to save room! Then we will have two "first courses" ("primi" in Italian) of rice and pasta, followed by a "second course" ("secondo") of meat. You can try all three or any combination. Later, in addition to cake, we will have a dessert buffet. Wine will be served with the meal and an open bar will follow.

Question

I have a food allergy. Can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes, Italian restaurants are actually much more attentive with this than in the U.S. There will be a space for this when you RSVP online, so please let us know there.

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

We have registered through Zola, which allows you to purchase a gift or contribute to one of our dream funds (like for our honeymoon or to donate to a charity) right here online! We ask, if you would like to give us a gift, that you please choose from the registry. As an international couple, we do not yet know where we will live after the wedding, many electronics (such as blenders or toasters) made in the U.S. cannot be used in Italy and vice versa because of voltage differences, and it is way to difficult to ship things to Italy!

Question

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

Answer

GREECE! Still working out the details.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We're still figuring this one out. Check back later for more updates. For now, all we know to tell you is to arrive at least before it starts!

Question

Can I take pictures?

Answer

We have two requests: 1) Please do NOT take any photos during the ceremony in the church. We have a wonderful photographer, and this is, for us, a sacred place. Cell phones must be turned off in the church. 2) Please DO take all the photos you want throughout the rest of the day!

Question

What will we have to eat and drink at the reception?

Answer

A LOT! An aperitivo (appetizer) buffet with prosecco and cocktails Two first courses (Tortelli stuffed with polenta ai formaggi in a truffle ragù sauce; Risotto with carrot cream, balsamic-marinated chicken and castelgmagno cheese) Second course (Roasted guinea fowl stuffed with truffles, pecorino cheese, and creamed potatoes) Vegetable side dishes Wine to accompany dinner After dinner coffee and digestifs (limoncello, grappa, and various bitters) Wedding cake A dessert buffet An open bar with wine and cocktails

Question

Should I bring euros with me?

Answer

Italy's currency is the euro, and a recent law requires all businesses to accept credit cards, but a small business may not yet be "up-to-date." Consider bringing some cash with you for any cab rides or gelato splurges! There are plenty of ATMs in town, but check with your bank regarding international fees. You may also want to call your credit card company and tell them you will be travelling abroad. If they are not aware of your travel, they may see international charges as indicating a stolen card, and they may freeze your card. Call before to avoid this.

Question

Should we tip at restaurants and bars?

Answer

When you go out to eat or to a bar, it is not expected nor typical to tip. Instead, restaurants usually charge a small cover charge ("coperto") per person.

Question

Will my phone charger work in Italy?

Answer

The standard voltage in Italy is higher than in the United States. You will need a converter for any electric appliances (curling irons, phone chargers, etc.). This website (https://www.power-plugs-sockets.com/us/italy/) has great information on this, and you can find converters easily on Amazon.

Question

What kind of weather can I expect?

Answer

Typical weather for September is described here: https://weatherspark.com/m/72188/9/Average-Weather-in-September-in-Perugia-Italy We suggest, in addition to your attire for the welcome drink and wedding, that you pack clothes that you can layer. Warm, sunny days and cool to slightly cold nights are typical. The reception is on a high hill, so consider also a shawl or something to keep you warm in case it's a chilly evening! And bring an umbrella just in case.

Question

I have another question. Whom should I call?

Answer

If your question hasn't been answered here, you can reach the couple by email at damiano.sarah.pg@gmail.com. For something more urgent, please call Sarah's mom, Geralyn, at 717-993-9397.
