Visit the town of Faros. We love spending time here hiking to the Tower of Drakano or just hitting all the great sand-pebble beaches here. Our favorite is Iero beach, where the cave of the god Dionysus is located. Legend says the cave is considered to be the place of nurture and worship of the god, who was born in the nearby mount Drakano.
Ikaria is famous throughout Greece for her "Panagiria", traditional feast days that celebrate the Saints' name days and other religious holidays. On July 20th, the day after our wedding, there is a panigiri in the village of Glaredo. If you want the full Ikarian experience we highly recommend that you go!
Our favorite spot to eat! The traditional taverna Tzaki ('Fireplace') is located at the green village Glaredo, overlooking the azure waters of the Ikarian Sea and the imposing islands Fournoi and Patmos. Keeping intact through time the secrets of culinary art and the warm service, the Tzaki succeeds to create unique delicacies and offers a wide variety of flavors of the Greek cuisine, including traditional Ikarian dishes.
