Question

Where will the wedding festivities be?

Answer

We are getting married at Fort Street Presbyterian Church. Our reception will take place at The Roostertail on the riverfront.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

This is totally up to you! Detroit is the "Motor City," so depending on how much exploring you want to do in addition to the wedding activities, it may be easiest to get around via car. For the wedding activities, we will make sure hotel blocks are within a short walk/shuttle distance from the church, and will provide shuttles from the church/hotel to the reception venue. Detroit has two public transportation systems that serve Downtown and Midtown: The People Mover runs in a one-way circle around downtown. If you are trying to spot it, look for the thing that looks like the monorail at Disney World! The Q-line is a street car that runs up and and down Woodward Ave from Downtown Detroit through Midtown Detroit.

Question

Are my kids invited?

Answer

Yes! We are excited to celebrate with everyone we love of all ages.

Question

What's the Dress Code?

Answer

For our special day we ask that you wear formal attire.

Question

What food should I try while visiting Detroit?

Answer

Middle Eastern Food: Detroit has some of the best middle eastern food in the country. There are many options, but one of our favorites downtown is Anita's Kitchen. If you have a car, venture into the Dearborn neighborhood for the best middle eastern food in the city. Polish Food: If you are craving pierogis, pop over to Hamtramck, MI. Just about 10 minutes from downtown, you can get really good pierogis at Polish Village Cafe. Pro tip - it's cash only (although they do have a no fee ATM in the lobby). Detroit Style Pizza: it's square, thick and crispy. Invented back in the 1940's by using an automotive manufacturing steel pan. If you want to try it, check out Elephant and Co in midtown - which also happens to be a great local craft brewery tap house! Coney dog: You either love it or you hate it - but it's a Detroit staple worth trying once. You can get this at almost any diner, but the most famous ones come from American Coney Island or Lafayette Coney Island. They are right next to each other owned by dueling brothers - drama!!
