Travel

Algarve is known for its year-round clear blue skies and beautiful sunny beaches. Located in the southern most part of Portugal, you are surrounded by a variety of cities and towns as listed below, both inland or on the beach, to explore and stay at! If traveling in a group, we recommend finding a place to stay at on VRBO, Airbnb, or Booking.com. Algarve's coastline has something for everyone. If you wish to relax on beautiful white sandy beaches, we recommend staying east of Albufeira. If you prefer to sightsee, beach hop or take boat tours along the coastline caves, we recommend staying in Albufeira or west of it. Traveling through Portugal is easy by all forms of transportation. We recommend renting a car if you plan to explore the country during your visit. You can pick up a car in Lisbon (LIS) or in Faro (FAO). You can also easily get around by train or bus for longer distances, and by Uber or Bolt within cities and towns.

Flight

Lisbon Airport

Lisbon Airport (LIS) is in Portugal's capital and about 300 kilometers from Algarve. From there, you can either get a connecting flight to the Faro International Airport (FAO), drive (2-hours), or take the train or bus down to the Algarve region.

Flight

Faro International Airport

If you choose to travel through or from a different city in Europe, you can also fly into the Faro International Airport (FAO), which is about a 30 minute drive to the wedding venue.

Loulé

Loulé, Faro District 8100, Portugal

This small city is where Tina's family is from and where the wedding ceremony will take place! It is about 15 minutes inland from the coast and full of history and culture. In Loulé, you can choose to stay in the city at a hotel, bed & breakfast, or rental. Or stay somewhere right outside of the city overseeing the rolling hills and countryside. When in Loulé, take a walk through the cobble streets, explore the city's Moorish history, visit the Mercado de Loulé, and the many local stores, coffee shops and restaurants!

If you are looking for a lively place to stay with lots of beach options and nightlife strips, Albufeira is definitely a place to consider! It is a former fishermen's village that turned into a popular destination for tourists to stay at. There are many scenic beaches typically surrounded by beautiful cliffs. Our personal favorites in Albufeira are Praia de Santa Eulàlia and Praia de São Rafael!
