As his college years were drawing to a close, Travis stopped by a friend's house one night on his way to the bars, where he did not intend to have a single drop of alcohol. While rambunctiously making himself at home, he came across the prettiest girl in the world. And she sassed him right out of the house. So for the rest of the night, and a few days after, he wondered if he'd ever see her again. When he did, he was on his best behavior and tried to convince her to go on a date with him. One year later, they would move in with each other and have been sassily partying together ever since. This girl was Cricket.

Even though it was Sunday and Cricket should have been back in Denver doing homework, she went to Boulder to watch boys she didn't really know play soccer. After the game, a boy who Cricket did know introduced her to a cute and quiet boy she didn't know (though it turns out she did.) Though quiet and mysterious, his shyness started to crack as plans were made to go to The Downer. So just as she pretended watching strangers play soccer was fun, she pretended she loved nothing more than cheap beer in a dark, dank dive bar on a Sunday evening. She won him over with her shuffleboard skills and by making fun of him for trying to secretly Shazaam a song he should know, but now neither of them remember. Weeks later, Travis won Cricket over by making fun of her cheap vodka and telling her it has to go through a Brita filter at least 4 times to be drinkable. Naturally, this happened at The Downer. After all of their friends left, Travis insisted they stay and finish the $6 pitcher because he values the true meaning of the dollar. Travis abandoned the pitcher realizing Cricket would not help him drink that garbage. As they walked home, he told the best science joke about acrosomes that now neither of them remember.

Cricket and Travis have spent nearly a decade moving a Brita filter around Denver, but have never, ever used it to filter a goddam thing.
