Our story

Once upon a time, Emily lived in downtown Manhattan and was lucky enough to have many of her close friends living nearby. Two of which -- Kat and Christopher -- were always insisting Emily and her roommate (Shea) meet them at Harry's, a mere stone's throw away from their apartment. On occasion, they would comply and join them for a nightcap -- usually, a Guinness poured in every vessel Ryan could find -- but that wasn't truly where she 'met Ryan.' Fast forward several years, Emily moved to the Upper East Side and her friends dispersed from downtown. One hot August Sunday in 2015, her friends agreed to journey to Park Slope to meet Kat and Christopher for brunch in their new neighborhood. Following brunch, the group stopped by The Gate where the couple happily proclaimed, "Ryan is coming to meet us!" Now, you might think it was love at first sight, but that wasn't the case. We were intrigued by each other but barely knew each other. Over the next year and a half, Emily and Ryan would find reasons to meet up -- football with friends at Dino, a Yankees game, and even, the occasional date -- but it wasn't really until December 2016 when they decided to make it 'official.' Emily and Ryan soon got tired of making the 1+ hour trip between UES and Park Slope and Emily signed a lease just 2 blocks from Ryan (conveniently, on the same street). Over the next two years, they continued to find what they loved in each other -- taking road trips near and far, trying new foods and restaurants, spending time with friends, and much much more. (Sadly, Ryan still pulls for the Cowgirls, but Emily's willing to forgive since he became a Penn State football fan.) When Emily and Ryan moved in together in 2019, they found it to be 'easy' with very little adjustments -- and that simplicity continued when the world was hit by a pandemic. On October 3, 2020 , Ryan decided to make the grandest gesture at Emily's birthday celebration in Prospect Park -- he put a ring on it!
