Getting to Downtown Charlevoix

From Metro Detroit: If you're driving from the Metro Detroit area, continue north on 1-75 for about 200 miles, passing through Flint, Saginaw, and Bay City. After passing Grayling, take Exit 282 for M-32 West toward Gaylord. Turn left onto M-32 West and drive 1 mile into downtown Gaylord. Follow US-131 North for 30 miles, passing through Boyne Falls. At Boyne Falls, take a left onto M-75 North toward Boyne City. Drive about 8 miles and then merge onto US-31 North. Stay on US-31 North for about 15 miles, driving along the scenic Lake Michigan shoreline. As you enter Charlevoix, US-31 becomes Bridge Street, leading you into downtown. You’ll arrive in the heart of Charlevoix, where you can find restaurants, shopping, and scenic views of Lake Michigan and Round Lake. If you have extra time and want a more scenic drive, take I-75 North to Petoskey, then drive along M-119’s "Tunnel of Trees" before reaching Charlevoix. From the Traverse City Airport: If coming from Traverse City Airport (TVC), depart the airport by turning left onto South Airport Road. Turn left onto Three Mile Road and proceed north.​ At the intersection with US-31, turn right to head northbound.​ Stay on US-31 North for approximately 50 miles, passing through towns such as Elk Rapids and Eastport. US-31 becomes Bridge Street as you enter Charlevoix.​ Continue on Bridge Street to reach the heart of downtown Charlevoix.
