Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Townsend is right on the edge of one of the entrances to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Courtney's parents have been going to the Smokies for decades and had their honeymoon here, while Courtney has been camping in these mountains since she was 6 months old. Andy and Courtney have also fallen in love with camping here together. Cade's Cove, one of the most famous areas of the Smokies, is about a 20 minute drive from Dancing Bear, and is a very popular spot for seeing black bears in August.

Hiking

There are numerous beautiful hiking trails scattered all around Townsend. We recommend using the All Trails app to identify a hike best fit for your skill level. Make sure to save some energy for the dance floor Saturday night though!

Wine Tastings

Tennessee Mountain View Winery offers multiple wine tastings with indoor/outdoor seating options to take in all the beautiful scenery.

Mini Golf

Nothing says cheesy tourist activity like mini golf! Mountain Mini Golf is Townsend's only mini golf site located 5 minutes from Dancing Bear off the main strip.

Tubing

Cool down from the August heat and float the river! Smoky Mountain River Rat in Townsend offers guests a calm, peaceful floating experience, or our adventurers can choose a more intense option with rapids.

Horseback Riding

Fly Fishing

For our Whiskey lovers, you can enjoy a tasting at Company Distilling. Founder, Jeff Arnett, was the "Master Distiller" at Jack Daniels for 20 years.
