Kincaid Park
Really nice park with easy trails right in Anchorage. Pretty fair chance of seeing a moose.
Anchorage Museum
Visit the museum in downtown Anchorage where we had our first date! The museum teaches you much of Alaska’s history as well as offers visually stunning art pieces.
Earthquake Park
Beautiful views and a great place to catch the northern lights from within the city, should they make an appearance during your stay. Use the app “Aurora” to stay up to date on northern lights sighting opportunities after dark.
Barbara Falls (<1 mile trail)
Visit a majestic waterfall and the place of our proposal! Starting at South Fork Trailhead, there are two paths to view Barbara Falls. The main trail will allow you to view the falls from the top. However, the better viewing comes from taking the trail to the right of the first bridge before crossing it. It cuts through the woods, and offers a trail less traveled on that will open up to the massive waterfall you can walk right up to.
Eagle River Nature Center
Very easy walk to take in some Alaskan views.
Eklutna Lake
Take a walk around a beautiful lake and see the Fall colors Bring a bear bell/bear spray as bears are known to be spotted in the area during this time
Thunderbird Falls Trail
A very easy hike that allows you to view a lovely waterfall from an easy viewing location.
Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center
Great spot to see some of the native Alaskan wildlife, found just outside Anchorage. Tickets are a small fee
Girdwood
Lovely little town just an hour outside of Anchorage that offers the most stunning views as you drive along the Seward highway
Moose's Tooth Pub & Pizzeria
Best pizza in Alaska. Favorite haunt of Austin’s who recommends the chipotle steak pizza and Diablo bread sticks
Whisky & Ramen
This swanky spot downtown is one of our favorites for a celebratory dinner! It was our first meal after getting engaged.
Xalos Burrito Express Midtown
One of few good Mexican food spots in town
