Travel

Here are a few potential travel options: STRAIGHT TO THE WEDDING: Fly straight to Florence (FLR - Amerigo Vespucci Airport), which is where the wedding venue is. FOR A DIRECT FLIGHT & SIGHTSEEING: Fly to Rome, sightsee for ~1-3 days, and then take the train to Florence. ALTERNATE ROUTES: Some alternatives that may offer different pricing are to (i) fly into Pisa (PSA - Pisa International Airport) and take the train to Florence from the airport train station, or (ii) booking separate tickets through other major European airports (London, Paris, etc.). We recommend that you purchase flight tickets as soon as possible to avoid rising prices.

Lodging

We recommend you stay in or around Florence near P.za di Santa Maria Novella (50123 Florence, Metropolitan City of Florence, Italy), which is where evening transportation dropoff on July 4 and July 5 will be. Florence is very walkable so there are plenty of options within a 5-10 min walk of the dropoff point. There are also cheaper and convenient Airbnbs. Please feel free to reach out to us if you'd like to be paired up for a hotel room or Airbnb. At the end of the Friday (Games Day) and Saturday (Wedding) events, we have shuttles to bring guests back to the city from Villa Gamberaia (15-20m drive). The dropoff location will be Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Some hotel example suggestions near the piazza, in no particular order: Hotel Grand Minerva (in the piazza) Hotel Santa Maria Novella (in the piazza) Hotel Garibaldi Blu (in the piazza) Hotel L'Orologio (in the piazza) Hotel Roma (in the piazza) Helvetia & Bristol (6m walk and the location of the Thurs evening event) The St Regis (7m walk) Airbnb (plenty of good and cheaper options) BUT - many are shocked to discover the famous cradle of European Renaissance, birthplace to Dante Alighieri, the entire Italian language, and modern banking, is 5 times smaller than Palo Alto and walkable end to end in ~25 minutes. Therefore you can stay anywhere in Florence’s historic center - most places are within a 15-20m walk of Piazza Santa Maria Novella.
