Segun and Corinne both started as Washington College freshmen in August of 2010. Ironically, Corinne was placed in the International House (I-House), while Segun was not. They started talking in the I-House basement after Segun got a bug bite and Corinne had to bring him After Bite. They became friends (and physics lab partners).
After years of friendship and insisting to WAC students that, "no really, we're just friends," Segun asked Corinne to officially be his girlfriend. They went through senior year together, then moved to Pittsburgh in 2014 after graduation. After two years of graduate school, they had to go into long-distance relationship mode when Segun got his job in Connecticut and Corinne got accepted to Teach for America in North Carolina. After two long years, they moved back in together (dog and cat, too) in Rhode Island in 2018.
During Corinne's teaching spring break in 2019, they took a vacation to Pittsburgh. Segun managed to convince Corinne to go for a walk downtown to Point State Park, where he proposed (much to Corinne's surprise).
Thanks to Covid, we had to postpone our big reception. But we still got married on our original date! In a tiny backyard ceremony, with most of our family and friends attending via Zoom, we had our wedding (copy and paste to watch: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iynZAUkgJd4ecMKV6XMtaeuPIvXMPZtJ/view?usp=sharing).
We can't wait to celebrate with you all and renew our vows for our one year anniversary!
