What do lesbians take on a second date? You guessed it, a U-Haul! This is the story of two lesbians who took a U-Haul on their first date. Cora was a die-hard New Yorker, who swore that bodega sandwiches saved lives, public transit was the ultimate mode of transportation, and that 400 square feet is PLENTY of room for an apartment or full service coffee shop. Margaret grew up with New England in her blood, believing the best cup of coffee is a Small Hot Regular from Dunkin', that “leaf peeping” is a season unto itself, and Clam Chowder Is. Not. Red. They both worked in the coffee industry and met while organizing an event for gay pride month. It was friends at first sight. They shared a mutual dislike of small talk, and the belief that curiosity is the center of life. This resulted in them spending time together whenever in the same city. In Spring of 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Cora and Margaret talked on the phone every day. Work had taken Margaret to Provincetown, while Cora stayed put in her apartment in Brooklyn. After weeks in quarantine, Margaret invited Cora to join her on Cape Cod to get some fresh air. On a brisk April morning, Margaret drove down to New York and scooped Cora from her tiny perch. Cora packed her bag for one week, and stayed for five months. Despite trying times, their Summer was filled with light and love. Elaborate taco parties, bike rides through the National Seashore, growing a vegetable garden, hikes through the sand dunes and sunsets at Herring Cove. This was just the beginning of the story for Cora and Margaret. On September 17th they are getting married in the very place they fell in love, and will continue to build a legacy of love together.
